So since last night I have been getting the BSOD Bad_pool_header on my system and have had no luck getting it sorted out. Have gotten it with both the E8500 and QX9650 at stock settings, have swapped out my PSU, have tried each 4850 and my 3870x2 to see if it was something related to that and so far nothing has helped. Been using the E8500 and QX9650, P5Q3 with latest BIOS, 2GB G.SKills HZs DDR3 1600, 4850s, 3870x2, both my silverstone strider 1000w and Antec True power 650w. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance everyone.

Ram is next thing to try, then all connections. anything OC'd? Failing that, try a different bios. (One of asus' official bios' kept giving me BSOD's I went back a bios and all fixed! They have since fixed it with the latest bios (only just) but its will be worth a try)

Disable Microsoft Corporation Indexing Service in msconfig...see if that solves it.

I would try that, but forgot to mention that it usually happens within 30 seconds (or less) of windows loading.

thats the same bsod i was getting since i last ran win update. i have , since last night, gone back to xp. Im done for now. I also run 4850's

Just for shits, boot into safe mode and uninstall your CCC and ATI video driver. Then boot normal and see if it craps again. Seems LATELY (past few days) alot of people with 4800's are having vista troubles.

Yea, it could be something with that, ATI was complaining about the driver with the 4850's in there, and then the 3870x2 booted and the driver was working.

you need to reinstall the ATI drivers when switching from 3k to 4k. they are different.

That is exactly my point!!

use msconfig and disable that service startup. I have run into this before. Now that I know it happens to you within 30 seconds of boot up I am almost postive that is the reason.

You can also do it through services.msc disable the Indexing service.

Don't have the service, going to reinstall drivers and see if that fixes it.

or it could be when CCC starts up and takes control of the video settings.

Yeah...Could be CCC as well, though I have never heard of a Bad Pool error regarding CCC.

I got that same bsod two nights ago when firing up Mass Effect. The game had not even loaded the menu screen and *poof* bsod "bad pool header" NEVER had bsod's before. Im %80 sure there was a sketchy update that microsoft pumped out recently

Going to have to format windows, can't uninstall drivers in safe mode and can't sit in windows long enough to uninstall them.

put the 3k back in and uninstall

Can you run DriverCleaner in safe mode. I think so! Either way I ,once again, went back to XP last night

You pretty much have to have that service...its a core M$ service...Be sure to check your services and look for indexing service.

Computer is formatted and I am installing drivers, everything seems fine.
