I don't game at all, but I do enjoy watching many 4k videos. I have searched everywhere, for the best settings for video/4k video and graphics, in my Radeon Software settings, all the searches lead me to "Game Performance Settings". Is the game performance settings also the best setting for just watching videos? If you have a link to the best AMD settings for the best quality videos or best quality picture on web sites, I sure would appreciate it.

Adjust for max picture quality, not performance then

And how do I do this in the settings? This was my question. I'm looking for a play by play. :D

Well in short 2D performance on your GPU is the most important thing for watching the videos and other win/browsers tasks that not including 3D....of course some GPU's have better 2D then some others.....
P.S.Today almost all "newish" GPU's have solid 2D 'tho there is still difference in picture quality and 2D Performance.......If you want you can download Passmark benchmark and check your GPU 2D performance

This is what I'm working with. AMD Radeon HD 7770 2GB card, and Samsung UR55 Series 28" IPS 4K UHD Monitor

Video quality settings are usually controlled by the app running the video. There is no general setting appart from some color stuff. Have a look in the Display tab, you should be able to set color temperature, bit depth etc., but that's it. And if you're not using a pretty decent display, you won't see much of a difference anyways.

Focus on firstly calibrating your display and using the correct settings in the display itself, then focus on the software bit.

Also, sometimes the video container (the app that runs the video, be it web browser, Media Player,...), runs on the CPU, so you'd get no difference, because the video is not being rendered by your GPU.

I'd attach some files but I'm on my phone so sorry for that mate, let me know if you found the color settings :)

Edit: be aware, that Youtube 4k content is shit quality, so make sure you have some proper 4k video to look at aswell ;)

Thank you, this was helpful, this is the kind of information I was looking for.

Just out of curiosity. AFAIK, Radeon 7000 series are not supported by the new drivers.

What version are you using?

Also, if you're having performance issues with GPU video, the 2D clocks @eidairaman1 mentioned can be tuned via a Powerplay edit in the registry, or a BIOS mod

He can use the last known working driver though.

Of course! I was just trying to know what kind of interface he's looking at, hehe. I remember some of the older drivers having video settings like 'cinema' etc.

Edit: @Mr Bill thanks for the driver version. Did you manage to find anything under 'Display'? I'll be home in about 2h :D

I'm good now by looking at the link eidairaman1 gave me. I know my graphics card may have a lot of limitations, but since I don't game, it works great for me.

As far as video playback goes, you're good for years to come my friend :toast:

Heck Mr.Bill

I have a Ry7 5800 paired with a XFX R7 250X GHOST 2G card.

Used to have a 270X, those were the days of modding the shit out of your GPU. No stupid boost 3.0 bullshit, only pure power, as long as the VRMs would hold

Edit: sorry off-topic

Thank you! and if you look at my system specs, I should be also be good for years to come for a 70 year young man. :D

Ive got a Virgin r9 290 vaporX here. Once I can have a place to live I will be modding this beast.

Wow, nice rig!!
I'm on my phone so it's not easy to see the system specs, only if I "stalk" you

You're 70? Wow, very nice to see you're still in the game and updated on things, my grandpa is going 69 this year, I taught him how to use the smartphone and PC 7-8 years ago(I'm 25) and he can't live without it

Started out with an IBM 8088 back in 1979, only desktop I've ever bought, all the rest, I've built. :D

My R9 290 with X bios and reference cooler died after 5 years of hardcore gaming on 90°C. I loved her. And I miss her. Then I got this Vega, no need to change still and I game a lot.

Mad respect! People used to tell me my interest in computers will change over time, muahaha, never!!!

Nostslgia good memories moment. 1998 was my first AT PC. Christmas gift by my Grandpa and Grandma Bittner. 1999 I became an enthusiast and that bond with my Grandparents was strong.

Grandma passed in 1999, Grandpa in 2016. I miss all of my Grandparents.

God Bless their Souls.

The latest driver for your card is Adrenalin 21.5.2 I'd recommend updating it, since this is the final release from AMD. You will find all video related settings in these two tabs:

2.jpg

And while "best image/video quality" is completely subjective (color temperature, saturation, brightness, sharpness, etc.), you may try tweaking some of the above options to your liking.

Should I use the Display Driver Uninstaller DDU first, or just install it over my existing drivers?
