Bethesda Ditching Steam With Fallout 76 - Available Only via Bethesda.net

Is the game even due for a graphical upgrade or is it going to be ugly like FO4 ?

It's Creation Engine, same as Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

I really do NOT need another launcher...

How about you check the gameplay videos? Like, common...
But yes, it will look better, and yes, it seems that it is running the same engine, though upgraded, as Fallout 4.

Well, there is this thing called piracy ;)

Never did like that excuse from companies when it came to PC gaming.

The real problem is, people that do this lack a moral compass and no excuse they can come up with can justify their actions of pirating a game/movie/music.

I've purchased some real lemons back in the day for PC games. Take the game Mistmare for example.....gawd awful. I tore through the first two Gothic games and when I saw Mistmare on the shelf and looked it over, it resembled Gothic in the images/artwork on the box. Got home, installed the game and tried so hard to play it for 3-4 hours, but the controls were horrid, graphics were below Gothic graphics and the story was rather bland. I put the game back in the box and I haven't opened it since.

That horrible experience with Mistmare didn't turn me to pirating games just because I felt ripped off for the $30 (or whatever I paid) the game cost me. I continued to buy games I wanted to play and I still do that to this day.

As for Bethesda wanting to force people to another launcher specifically for their game....maybe they should look into something that provides access to the game from multiple launchers, but offer some extra incentives for those that purchase the game from their Bethesda.net. Something like in game bonus items or offering a small weekly/monthly gift of whatever cash based coins required for purchases.

Well, just another reason I won't be buying it. I mean, I wasn't going to buy it anyway thanks to the always online bullshit.

Well they lost a sale from me then. I won't buy games from any other platform.

I don't blame them. I wondering why I saw some differences recently... It looks like they're even selling old TES and Fallout versions through Beth.net too.

Greed, greed never changes.. ;)

Not sure how it's greed to simply cut out middle-men, for your own product.

That actually depends on the textures they use for the game, with the same engine a videogame could look fantastic, and dreadful just by changing textures, creation engine has some good in it, like lighting and shadows and overall effects, but especially lighting was pretty good, the rest is a buggy mess, with horrible textures.

It'll probably be the last of the CE based games.. I believe TES6 is finally the upgrade we've been hoping for....which is probably why it's been taking so long too. This is the longest it's between sequels.

We hope it’s an upgrade but we can now also be sure it’s gonna be on their stupid launcher now too...

Well, I guess they will have lost me to any further Elder Scrolls games.

I don't mind personally. I already use it for the Creation Kit stuff.. no way around it. Besides, everyone's got a launcher these days.

That's pretty lame. Do you even like the series? How you could give it up so quickly?

/says the fanboy :p

I already have enough launchers...I cringed the day I had to install Battlenet for Destiny 2 never thought I’d ever let the gaming equivalent of QuickTime on my machine...

Yeah, but you don't have to run all the time or launch at start up. It's just an app like any other. Not AIDs.

No proper TES fan would ever ditch it over something like this. This is how they behave :p

Hey I’ve bought Skyrim a couple times already but forcing me to use yet another launcher is just grating. I have all the rest, I don’t need another “me too” attempt from Bethesda...

Even if I liked the game, for this reason alone I wouldn't buy it. Screw that garbage. Plus, I already have Steam and Origin account. I'm not creating another one. And especially when it has something to do with Bethesda.

I understand. I'd prefer they not do this.. but I could never pass them up. I'm already starving for single player RPGs as it is.

The proper answer is to ditch Origin, if you were going to ditch anything at all. They ARE NEVER coming out with anything worthwhile again. Their good studios are in shambles. Not so Bethesda.. be it the RPGs or Id stuff.

Origin is my least used of them all but it’s certainly not a bad one. Steam is always on(450+ games) the others Uplay, Origin and GOG get used on a game to game basis, I could really get rid of Battlenet as Destiny was a disappointment.

I still keep Battle.net around for Diablo 2 and 3. Never actually played Destiny. It's always looked cool to me, but I avoid MMO-ish stuff.. and people. Heh

Battle.NET, GOG and Steam are the only one I use; Uplay and Origin are banned from my PC (in fact, every Ubisoft and EaGames title are banned until they stop being dense mofo).

People that know me have seen my Steam hours. I’m as much a fan as I am of Total War series. And yeah, I can give it up: I have always been a man of principles.

Your attitude contributes to Bethesda and other companies treating customers like dirt, because you’ll buy the product no matter what.

I don't see the principle here though. It's just a launcher. :)

And could you actually give up a company that says this... in this day and age?

But it’s just another publishers walled garden that’s my issue. You can bet there will never be any sales, lacking the social features and tools that Steam provides for example. Why is Steam always on on my PC? Because that’s where my friends that I game with are as are most peoples. How many friends lists/Launchers do I need?
