BIOSTAR Intros the X370GTN Mini-ITX Socket AM4 Motherboard

BIOSTAR today introduced the first AMD X370 chipset based socket AM4 motherboard to the market, with the X370GTN. The board comes with out of the box support for AMD Ryzen processors, with TDP of up to 95W. It draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 4-pin ATX power connectors, and conditions it for the AM4 SoC using a 7-phase VRM. The socket is wired to two full-length DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory; and the lone PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, besides some of the I/O ports.

Storage connectivity includes four SATA 6 Gb/s ports from which two are directly wired to the AM4 SoC, and one 32 Gb/s M.2-2280 slot with NVMe booting support (reverse side). USB connectivity includes two 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 ports (including a type-C port), and six USB 3.0 ports (four on the rear panel, two via headers). The board features BIOSTAR's Hi-Fi onboard audio solution, and a gigabit Ethernet connection driven by Realtek DragonLAN controller. Display outputs include DVI and HDMI.

Single-phase power for both DIMMS - I know mini-itx is small but if they used less space for RGB headers they probably could have put 2-phase at least.

If the phases are rated high enough they should be fine.

Does anyone else think that Biostar's products are ugly as soon (for the most part) I would truly be excited about this board because of it being the first itx release for Ryzen but, it looks cheaply made and ugly.

Can't wait to see what other manufacturers offer!

Finally, a new high performance chipset AMD miniITX board. It's only been, what, 7 years since the last one? Also, LOL at DVI and PS2 on a mini ITX mobo. Can we just get rid of those already?

If you want something better, go mATX or better.

There are plenty of intel mini-ITX boards with high quality onboard sound and LAN.
Remember, this is a biostar board. They are not exactly the high end. When gigabyte/MSI/asus get in on the mini ITX X370 game, expect even better boards.

150$ sounds highly overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than 120 for this. Compare this to a 114$
ASRock Z270M-ITX/ac that has 8 usb ports, 2 gigabit INTEL lan controllers and wireless AC plus 2 hdmi outputs.

Not impressed at all so far.

Am i the only one who finds the AM4 brackets such an eye sore? lol

Biostar lame as usual, no WiFi?! REALLY??? This board would be Ok for an R5 or R3 but I wouldn't chance an R7 to it, unless running at stock - which I wouldn't. I/O seems lacking considering this is based off the x370, the x300 would prolly have been the better choice.

The best thing this board does is hopefully get the other MFGs moving with their options.

AMD: Tell your board partners to get off their asses and make proper enthusiast iTX boards, you wont get any $$$ from me & many others until then. Lost a sale to me last cycle for this exact reason.

Bet it is fine with a light OC. There are plenty of people who are holding 4ghz on similar phase setups with B350's. My issue is the dumb LAN. Outside of that it would be fine with a 1700 and an OC imo.

You're right, but me being a cheap ass and keeping OCd builds as long as is possible I wouldn't chance it. I can't stand cheap/minimum/barebones power, Biostar cut the wrong corners if you ask me.

There is no reason for this board to be based on the x370.

X370 allows more SATA ports from the chipset I believe. That was probably a big reason.

This board is another hodgepodge from Biostar and shouldn't be more than $120 as another poster mentioned. I applaud them for trying but the execution is off and really don't see them selling many of these outside of currently being the only option.
