This website, which ill link with permission. ''sharewareonsale''.. Is giving away bitdefender 2018 total security free for the next 9 days. Im wondering if this is worth installing. Ive always just used free antivirus or nothing at all and just some good judgement and been okay. But im wondering if this is worth taking advantage of while I can. Ill be happy to link the page with permission. Everything seems legitimate. But as im unsure, I come to TPU.

EDIT: Notice this was moved to hot deals and people seem to be wanting to take advantage of it. I feel like I did the community a solid. TPU has sure done me plenty.

I'd be careful with those sharewareonsale website, probably just want to harvest e-mail addresses for spam purposes.

Bitdefender is the best you can get currently. So yeah if you can get it free do so. Lighter and stronger than pretty much everything else.

https://sharewareonsale.com/ is a legit website that does nothing shady.
THEY have every paid for antivirus (almost) you could want and offer nice free licensed software and sometimes games too.

Next to Kaspersky, BD gets among the most consistent (ratings over 4-5 tests in a row) rating at AVtest.org We used then with site licenses at several sites for years. We only stopped when they went all "Norton" on us and made it too difficult to own. No longer could I download it once and do all the installs over the networks, I know how to sit at each box and download it there. Since then they have been sending me offers , starting with $17 for 5 seats. I just got on a few days ago but didn't even open it. If only for one box, however, it's a quality product. And yes, definitely a better option than anything free...tho they been getting a few false positives in recent tests

So this offer is for a free "trial" period of 6 months? Be careful folks! This is just a marketing gimmick to get you hooked on the program so you will pay and pay and pay and pay again to renew and renew and renew and renew again.

Sure, its a good program. But if you have been happy and secure with your current really free solution (and that's easy to do), no need to take the bait here.
