10.4a is Up

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ATI-Catalyst-10-4-a-Hotfix.aspx

# Long load times for new maps in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 when using a Windows 7 / Windows Vista based system with an:

* ATI Radeon HD 5xxx series graphics card
* ATI Radeon HD 4xxx series graphics card
* ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series graphics card
* ATI Radeon HD 2xxx series graphics card

* The XP driver is provided only as an early look of Catalyst 10.4

Interesting. I wonder what the real difference is between these 10.4a's and the 10.4 hotfix they released a week earlier as both are for BC2 loading times.

downloading right now. but id like to hear from someone if it actually made any difference before installing

This version includes loading fix for all DX10+ cards. The first was only for the 5-series.

Damn it loads a lot faster o_O

It's bloody amazing. I am first on the server, every time, no matter what server it is...takes like 5 seconds, or sometimes less, when it's the same map.

ATi is pumping out drivers like mad...they've been doing so well I realyl want them to expand on that, and hire more people, so they can put more effort into developer relations.

you obviously missed teh nerd rage where 10.1/11 users loaded waaaay slower than DX9/10.0

no - i meant as in 'does it SERIOUSLY load faster' I know it loads slow, do you think i run in DX9 with my 4870s?! id like to put all this vintage horsepower to good use.

id say its more then halved the load times

i load faster (18 seconds vs over a minute) and i get higher FPS too now. feels like crossfires actually working.

I must admit it has fixed the slow loading for me, but I'm still getting black square corruption.

:/

Yep!

I also tried out the Catalyst Application Profile Update as that was apparently meant to solve that issue when using a single card, but that didn't. It's not too much of a problem tbh, it goes away after a minute or so.

nice to see them supporting the 4800 series card also with the hotfix for bfbc2 so quick!

right after the patch came out to prevent us benefiting from the faster load times

QFT, next they will actively enforce the framerate cap to stop people with higher end cards/setups for having an advantage over people that can only run something like a X1600 or a 4350

^^ heh, it's just 15s = less that two minutes :)

hehe, next monday I can recollect a brand new one! :nutkick:

Anyway, seriously: 9600SLI loads BC2 in like 5 seconds... BUT Farcry2 loads much slower with less details... so its even balanced. Different engines different factors....

Yet... should have got a 470 :D
