I don't know, maybe you can ask the AMD rep over at Tom's in the thread he made about this driver update on the Graphics forum.

I often don't even bother DLing let alone installing new AMD drivers anymore. They only seem to care about R9, APUs, and Crossfire.

Single R290 here

Tiny improvement in firestrike extreme and an increase in stuttering in watchdogs. So not great so far.

I also cannot get the downsampling built into the control centre to work

Still haven't fixed the AMD HDMI Audio device bug with the 7950/280
Or AA breaking warp effects in EVE on dx11
 don't know what I was expecting

Did I miss something or this didn't make the home page under the news?

Will try in a week or so and post.

The newest GPU architectures and multi-GPU will always get the most software updates since they have the most bugs that can be fixed. All the major bugs and easy performance fixes for the old architectures have already been released, so any further development on old cards is a large cost for little gain.

I would actually be very surprised to see any driver contain performance updates for old GPUs. About the only things old GPUs ever get with new drivers are compatibility fixes for the newest hardware and software, which doesn't mean much if you haven't changed anything on your system since the last driver update.

They don't release WHQL drivers on a monthly schedule anymore. 14 is for 2014 and 9 is for September.

I think it's the wee hours of the morning in India right now.

I do not know which version of the driver has not improved and corrected asus r7 260x dc22goc crashes blue screen is black when the machine instability
Will asus r7 260x dc22goc driver installed this version yet stable

You need to post your pcs hardware specs.

Took them long enough...

That power supply sounds like garbage to me.

Have you updated the motherboard drivers?

I'm also hating this driver. It bluescreens during the first install, I try again and it seems fine except the HD audio fails (No biggie). But when it's all done I get a window like CCC.exe is no good and none of my games work anymore. I have to keep reverting my system to before I installed this. I am using a crossfire setup and only one monitor. Here is my DxDiag (some of it)

No fix for the artifacts on 280x switching from 2D to 3D.

What vendor are you using?
@AphexDreamer

Edit: for the hell of it open up trixx and click on the force constant voltage, does that help by chance?

Except that they left a LOT of performance problems on the table with the 7000 series about the time they ditched it and started working on multi GPU frame pacing instead, which they were always FAR behind Nvidia on.

AMD go by duration of support. Nvidia go by quality of support. I've been stung before on waning support for games that stuttered badly on the X1950Pro when they ditched it. Going green next time.

My last card was a GTS 250. I never had problems like that with it. People always make up a lot of excuses for AMD. It will be interesting to see now that they aren't the value leaders on high end how many will stay loyal to them.

"Great" to me means reason to install it. Are you actually implying you get better performance with it on your 7970?

Heh, well... It isn't worse! I generally stick to WHQL's now days and so far so good.

This is what I expected to hear, which is why I see no reason to install them. Why use them if it's no better? You're only risking it being worse.

I used to always use the latest ones, barring problems, because they force feed the importance of using them as if catastrophe will happen if you don't. At the end of the day it just feels like more corporate responses for not having delved deeper into the real problems though.

I think you're looking too deep into it.

If there's a new WHQL that supports my card. I install it like I always have. In the 12 hours that I've had these installed, I really haven't had a chance to test much.

But hey, do what you will. :)

No problems here either on R9 290. But then again, I only play Skyrim :P Well, and BF4, sometimes.
