Speaking of strategy, in Civ5, have you been able to take down tanks with massive amounts of spearmen? In Civ4 I remember being able to do such things.

Remember playing and enjoying this game but when i got civ + addons my thinking of a good game turned to a none realistic type game which i dislike.

What i would like to know if the battles are more realistic as having archers taking out your tanks takes the piss lol. Be great to hear of some people who played it and find the battles to be more real.

As real as turn based strategy can be. We are not going for realism, we are going for entertainment and subtle complexities and strategy that take years to see and master, respectively, but not before we release another one.

cant get that far ... at least I didnt. I know my scout group could crush the barbarian invaders with ease though.

Well i loved the game until the battles started.

realism can be entertainment even with this game and before it comes up i did try the realism mod for civ 4 but never worked for me. none realistic is much less entertainment in archers taking out tanks lol to me.

Real shame CIV5 is the same thing.

Not everyone likes RTS games. Was never my cup of tea.

Anyways this game rocks. I'm glad that I picked this one up.

yep the micromanagement has been reduced a ton. It even lets you know when forgetting stuff. Great game wish I had more time to play!

I never got around to playing any of the Civilization games really. Mostly play RTS, but I did end up liking games like Rise of Nations, Galactic Civilizations, and Heroes of Might and Magic. You think I could like the game?

That's the purpose of the demo. Unless you have a cap on bandwidth or something, I suggest you try it out for yourself. :toast:

If you like galciv you'll probably like civ, they're similar games though completely different settings.

put your strong melee units in front, fortify them, medic 1 upgraded unit in the "middle" of the first row helps, and then put the long range units behind them so that the enemy cant get to them. start pounding on the city with the long range units only, until the city's health bar is red then use melee to take it
