Computer shuts down when playing games, only with 2 RAM sticks (not PSU’s fault)

Hello everyone, I've been having a problem with my computer for some time now. When playing some games (like Flight Simulator or simply being in the Fortnite lobby), it suddenly shuts down without any warning. It's strange, because it passes most stress tests (which put all components at 100%) successfully. I know others have had this issue on the forum, but none apply to my situation.

When I first encountered this problem, I thought the best thing to do was to check the voltages with HWMonitor. It showed that where there should be +12V, there was 10V. So I bought a new power supply thinking that would solve the issue, and as you can imagine, it didn't.

After MANY attempts, I've discovered the following:
- When I leave just one RAM module (out of the two I have), there's no problem.
- Lowering the voltage, power, and clocks of the GPU also solves the issue.
- The problem is not temperature, as it remains quite low (max of 70°C).

Here's a list of things I've already tried that haven't worked:
- Resetting the computer and installing only necessary drivers
- Updating BIOS, drivers, etc…
- Setting default values in the BIOS
- Using Windows' problem detectors
- Cleaning the processor, socket, motherboard, RAM, and GPU
- Changing the cables of the PSU

These are the specifications of my computer:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Asus ROG Strix RX5700XT
- Asus ROG B450-F Gaming
- Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 2666MHz 2x8GB

What is causing all those problems? I hope you can help me with this issue. Thank you.

This is of course just one example. But I had this same issue with a dying motherboard. A few months later it died completely. Luckily for me it was within the warranty period.

@Lahdiez Do you get a black screen while the PC stays powered or is it really turned off?

Which power supply do you have in your PC?

Thanks for your answer, I currently have a new Cooler Master XG 750 Plus Platinum power supply.

Does your PC stays powered on with a black screen or is it really turned off when it happens?

Just to make sure, did you install the RAM modules in A2 and B2 slots?

Yes, they are placed as indicated in the motherboard manual. Additionally, I've tried combining them in different ways and the only way to make it work is with just one of the modules (no matter which one).

@Lahdiez Can you enable the eco-mode in the bios? Your processor will be limited to 45 watt (or lower). Maybe it helps with troubleshooting.

It sounds like you have a bad mb dimm but I would suggest testing each module individually just to be certain its not your memory.

If possible, borrow a friends known good set of memory and test it in your rig.
GL!

Although difficult to pin point, has several things can cause this issue from faulty board to incorrect VSOC when running two dimms to low stock VDIMM.

Are you running the dimms with XMP enabled? Is 2666Mhz the XMP frequency

Two things I would try is first slightly increasing the VDIMM from stock 1.35V to anyway between 1.36V-1.4V most dimms will be perfectly happy to run at 1.4V 24/7.
Although you should not need 1.4V for 2666Mhz we just testing to see if increasing the VDIMM improves stability or not.

The more complicated issue is if your VSOC is below 1V when running dual channel dimm config. Try posting Zentimings with both sticks installed.
If you know how to increase VSOC then set it to 1.05V up to 1.08V. Yet again its on the high side for 2666 but we trying to see if low voltages in the BIOS is causing the system to reboot.

Lastly, Corsair RAM sometimes does not play nice with some ZEN 1 and 2 cpus some of my old corsair ram sitcks do not even boot with my ZEN 3 cpus.

Does it shut down and stays off or does it go into black screen, revs the fans and then reboots? Check Event Viewer for WHEA errors.

Let's back up a bit: when exactly did you first encounter this problem? To be more precise, did you change any of the hardware at that time? Because if so, there's your problem.

If not, then my suspicion would be that @The King is correct and it's an incompatibility between your memory and your CPU. Given how cheap memory is at the moment, you might as well upgrade to a 2x16GB kit of DDR4-3200 from a different manufacturer and see if that sorts out your problem. If not, it's likely that either your board or CPU is faulty.

Have to agree 100%.
I would also recommend GSkill myself, as I've yet to run into any issues with there memory.
