I got a great offer to buy one (unused) for 60€. The person selling the cooler said it costs like the double. What makes this cooler so expensive? Is it worth paying the price?? And what is a "TEC"??

When I saw it, it was huge. Don't even know if it will fit my case.

Thankful for any replies given.

Take a look here. Is a honest review.
TBH as long as you don't want hardcore OC I didn't touch that monster. You have better options like Thermalright VenomousX or Prolimatech Megahalems.

It sure is huge. It takes some effort to mount it at first. But dont even try removing and trying to fix it again. Its a pain in the ass lol. It performs really well. Its quiet and cools your RAM. And TEC is well something like a last resort for your CPU when it hits crazy temps to cool it down. The TEC cooler is basically like Horsepower. It gives around 200w of cooling power.

What makes this cooler so expensive? Marketing and it's size

Is it worth paying the price?? Absolutely not.

And what is a "TEC"?? It uses electricity to keep one side of a metal plate cool. In the V10's case, the TEC they use is not very good at all.

This cooler isn't worth your time or money.

Ok, thanks all for the information.
I think I'll spend money on another cooler..

i rather like mine does a pretty good job cooling i want to chunk the little baby tec they have on it stock and get a better one though

I thought EUR60 for a V10 is acceptable? I heard its comparable to the Mega and the Mega costs about that price.

i spent $50USD on it and it was the best cooler i know of at that price i do however after reading that review want to pop the hotplate off and see what the TEC is rated so i can set it up to run 100%

the great thing about the v10 is it kicks on the TEC at about 60c to help keep the cpu from going much higher. its only really usefull for hot running chips. I ran one for about 3 months on my uber hot Q6600 it kept it cool no mor than 62c where the TRUE would allow it to go around 70. if you dont have a hot running chip ordont plan to oc to make it hot, then no dont get it, is it a shit cooler, naw its a souped up V8 though, and the price meh not worth retail but at the price you are offered hell its worth it just to buy it to sell on ebay and make almost double your money. I ended up replaceing the TEC and benching with it and it benched prettey well with a replacement TEC. now for all those that havent personally had this, in your face! :p

what tec did you put in it?

Slip one of these puppies in there...:)

The TEC on the V10 is full on after 40*C.

The tiny heatsink on the TEC wont even take care of the 75-80W TEC as it is, adding a larger one wont work.

When the cooler released at $150 there was no way in h.e. double hockey sticks I would have bought one for that.

That Freezone, is the way to go, at least it was engineered to work right;)
