CoolIT Eliminator: alternate mounting method?

K, so I finally have the replacement motherboard and power supply for the system in my specs (which are updated to reflect them).

I bought a CoolIT Eliminator from Paulieg on here, and I have some ideas about mounting it differently. If you follow the link and look at how it's supposed to install, you'll see that it hides all the components from view. I would like to rotate it so that everything is visible, but I have no real knowledge of how water pumps and such work, so I want to know if this would have any negative affects on performance or maybe even damage the pump?

get a 92-120mm fan adaptor and a 120mm fan and, then you could just screw it into the back of the case (and enjoy a somewhat lower noise level). Then find a small spot of emptyness near the 120mm fan hole to mount the little pcb on. You could get one of those fans with the aluminum frame if you wanted to be sure it is durable, but it looks like they rely on the plastic 92mm fan to hold it up in the kit anyways

Actually, Paulieg sent me an adapter and 120mm tr-cool fan, so I was planning on doing that somehow. Maybe I will just take the whole cover off like you said.

At the moment now I'm confused as to whether or not I can get sub-ambient temps at least on idle, and whether or not I will need to take any extra precautions for that. This is my first time not using an air cooler and it was an impulse buy, so I'm kinda going into this a bit blind :ohwell:

The TEC's cool the water on that big assembly, not the block. Which means you wont have to worry about condensation on the cpu area

I was using a Coolit Freezone on a Asus 780i but found that the heat output from the mosfet heatsinks was causing the outside of the chiller units to condensate heavily. I had to remove the Freezone and went a straight water block instead. Just keep an eye on it. You shouldn't have too much problem with sub ambient temps, depends on how much of a CPU overclock/voltage increase you have though.

hrm . . . I'm gonna go ask paul if he had any condensation troubles when he was using it and see what he recommends

edit: He used it outside his case for a couple hours before installing it when he had it, and experienced no condensation on the unit or around the cpu. Based on that, I'm gonna go ahead and finally start arranging everything and get it all fired up. :D
