I installed new memory (Kingstone ECC Regustered) on my Asus Z9PE-D8 WS motherboard.

I’m running MemTest64 to validate the correct operation of memory on my MB.

I used default config just setting it to stop when it finds an error.

The first time, after a while (more than a hour) monitors got black. No desktop image... no walpaper, no taskbar in main monitor. Mouse pointer was blinking an responding to moves. I left it all night long without any chance in rhis status.

I rebooted the machine and ran again MemTest64. After a few minutes it happend exactly the same but after a minute more cou stop sending any signal to monitors. Monitors said: “no signal”.

Anyone with sane problem? Any idea?

try resetting your bios and clean the contact area on your ram slot and your ram too

Hi micropage7,

What do you mean with “resetting bios”?

Regards,
remove the bios battery, it will reset the bios
then you can check the ram setting, leave it by default then test it again

Try old memory?

Is the memory in the motherboards QVL list? Memetest lolz junk!

Obviously no. I were not be here if it would be in QVL.

This memory is ECC Registered 1600 Mhz, which are the soecifications from this MB.

I have operated all day long this server with no issues. My thought is tha this software (MemTest64) is not wirking properly.

It fails VERY fast. A memory SO bad could not work all day long without any issue.

I will continue looking for a more trustable memory test software.

If the software (which is run as normal user by the way) can crash your system, then it's not the software's fault - it shouldn't be able to do that.

Monitor losing signal means the machine crashed. Try reducing memory speed, or relax timings or increase memory voltage.

If you have another ram kit, try that to isolate if the problem is with the memory or the rest of the system
