As the titles states I'm getting pauses/hitching in certain areas and random times with Crysis 1 but I can play Crysis Warhead smooth as silk.

FYI, game setttings -

Both at 1680x1050

Crysis DX10 64bit

All Very High 16AF (via NV CP) 4xAA in game VSYNC OFF

Crysis Warhead DX10 64bit

All Enthusiast 16AF (via NV CP) 4xAA in game VSYNC OFF

I have tried running it in 32bit, DX9, No AA or AF, low settings, vsync on and still no joy. I get the same hitching in some areas and then a bit of random pausing every now and again for.1 of a second also....very annoying:mad:

So does anyone have any solutions or know what the issue is with Crysis 1 that is preventing me from playing it with the same silky goodness as Warhead?

Crysis is far superior, graphically, to Warhead but is also poorly optimized. It will still give systems a run for their money.

Crysis wasn't poorly optimized. It was just demanding. If you look at it it still looks incredible even compared to a just released titles.

Warhead is supposed to run better than Crysis 1 (with some sacrifices), Crytek stated it before release. And yeah even today it still looks gorgeous.

Just wait till you get to the last boss fight and you continually fall through the ship and then the game freezes because you ran out of RAM. (memory leek)

Ill tell you now how to fix it when you get there, run it in DX9, problem solved ;)

OK but how about some help guys?

The games framerates are not an issue (even the last level, which I skipped to to check) The game runs really smooth apart from hitching at certain points (it's like a couple of frameskips) and then tiny pauses at random times for no apparent reason.

I should also add that I have previously played through Crysis 1 in the past with a Q6600@3.7 and GTX 275 and had no issues with this either.

My machine can handle the game easily but there is something going on that is causing these little hickups. I have monitored Vram Usage and it never goes over 1GB, I have tried disabling sound to see if it was the onboard causing issues, all to no avail.

Is it recent Nvidia drivers and if not can anyone with an Nvidia card who has played it recently confirm it for me.

Thanks.

Have you tried to bring down your OC? and see what happens?

Have you tried older drivers?

Have you turned off your AV?

Im realy not sure as i have run it on many different systems with none of those issues you have even on a FX-57 and a 8600GT no worries there either

I have tried it at stock both on the CPU and GPU, haven't tried older drivers yet but then the GTX 560ti drivers really don't go back that far, AV is turned off and yeh, like I said, I didn't have this issue in the past either with a computer that was alot less powerful.

I mean even GTA IV fricking flies on this thing at max details and forced AA (shadows on high) without stutter......It probably is a driver thing.

I'll report back if I get to the bottom of it.

Any other suggestions still welcomed guys :)
