CSGO stuttering every 5 seconds mystery (ex. 5800x3d stutter topic)

Verify with some games that aren't running legacy or POS code. If you don't see frequent stutter then you're just chasing ghosts.
What games would you recomend?

Can you try running/enabling monitoring of https://resplendence.com/latencymon in the background while playing those games and post the screenshot?
Only 2 minutes of recording, but i had like 10 stutters during that time

Two OS on this computer?
no, two different attempts to fix this

here is what i see in cs go. take a look the frametime graph

That's nothing. You're running at 300fps+.

yeah, its kinda normal what I see on that cs go clip.

If you truly want 100% steady frametimes on source games you need to cap fps using rtss, especially at high framerates.

I'd even say its necessary to use rtss, on apex legends I cant play without it. Also a source game.

Here's my results from a CSGO bot match. 5800x3D with 6600XT

My graph is clearly not OK comparing to the one you have

Apex is actually OK for me.

I've seen other people with nVidia GPUs complaining about similar stutters, so it seems as it's driver related as @lawood pointed out.

But the framestimes arent steady, its an engine problem.
if you want rock steady frametimes you need to use rtss.
Not unplayable by any means tho.

This need to be taken into account.
I've seen many reports from 4090 users about bad frametimes with high FPS.
Reddit is full of them.

But ada users cant go back the the last good driver (517.48), lets hope nvidia fixes their crap in the meantime.

Could also be the January windows updates, for those were minor, just some bugfixes.

Here is a capture with rtss -2 frames bellow my monitors refresh rate. Still a steady stutter every 5-10 seconds.

Could be... thanks for checking cs on your rig, I appreciate it

Yeap, now its clear. Even with rtss you get those bad results.
This is driver related and from nvidia end. You'll need to wait a good driver for ada.
I get the same spikes on apex legends on the 526 and 528 branch. Warzone also suffers.
With 517 its smooth sailing.

The thing is, most ppl dont monitor frametimes. Ignorance is a bliss. :D

Yeah, to me it seems a driver issue. You've done all you can at this point without spending additional money on an AMD GPU for troubleshooting... I'd wait for a newer driver version and see if it changes anything.

Maybe use the RTX 2060 again but this time with a much older version to be 100% sure?

PUBG (in your video) runs really decent actually.
i played this game since day one and for ~1000 Hours.
these "stutters" are normal in PUBG and on every system.

Please fill out System Specs and have you check for a recent bios upgrade for your Gigabyte B550 Gaming X motherboard?

I assume you already know Gigabyte added support for the 5800X3D in bios version F10 according to their cpu list but checking bios page it was F15a they added support for the cpu damn it Gigabyte and their lame ass typos...

Because fun fact is that 5700X supported since bios F14 :banghead:

I would update to bios F15 to get AMD's AGESA 1.2.0.7 which is rumored to address certain stability issues with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and enables BCLK overclocking on the chip, as long as the processor doesn't draw more than 1.35 V in the Vcore voltage domain.

hah yea, i hate myself for being too picky with these damn frames. thanks

Something I will need to try yes. thanks !

maybe its me then. I don't remember anything similar when i was on a 5800x and 3070.
but again... maybe its the drivers

Thanks, I have F15 currently. Tried F13, it does not run full clocks on the CPU, so yeah 5800x3d is fully supported since f15a

Those spikes were introduced on the 526 branch from what I've seen and to a lesser extent 522.
I noticed right way on apex, pretty picky about my 1% lows and 0.1% lows.
If you look around reddit and other foruns you'll see many people reporting 517 is the last good driver. I'm saying that since 522 branch.
The thing is, nvidia drivers just work, you wont get crashes, or artifacts, or any clue of problems. But their drivers are far from perfect. These last ones are straight up trash in terms of performance. But 99% of people are just happy the games run and think the performance is great..
Not to long ago, around 511 and 512 branch putting digital vibrance over 50% would crash the driver. :kookoo:
With AMD you see so many complaints because you get crashes and whatnot.

for example this clip. 4080 and a 5800x3d, no frametime spikes in the graph. I have tested every nvidia driver for 4080, so something is fishy still here

The problem with driver bugs is, it's not always reproducible on every system. For ex, AMD had a Multi-plane overlay bug in their drivers where it would crash/timeout during simple browsing/alt-tabbing. I haven't experienced that bug in any driver version I've tried. Just my 2c

I really don't trust those youtube channels, stuff is easy to fake. They popup everyday and give no proof of the hardware they are testing, seems fishy.
But it could be something else. I just see that those stutters kinda mirror the stutters I had with high framerates on those drivers, especially the cs go graph and especially with rtss enabled.

The pubg graph seems normal.

Used NVCP before to cap fps in Squad, just now I switched to RTSS and can definitely say it gives smoother frametimes.

OP, set your fps limit in PUBG to max, then cap your fps to -3 from your monitor refresh rate in RTSS.

Yeah, rtss is in a league of its own.
nvcp and gamecaps can't match its consistency.
It does add a minuscule amount of input lag but that trade off is more than worth.

Have you tested with RTX 2060 and older drivers?

I found this post exactly because I switched from a 10600kf to a 5800x3d and started experiencing these crashes. Previously with the 10600KF I didn't have micro stutters, at least it wasn't noticeable despite having about 120 fps less. I only play pubg, my memories are 4000mhz CL16 b die (I used them at 10600kf), now in 5800x3d I use normally at 4000mhz with infinity fabric 2000mhz. I downloaded warzone and some other games, and everything runs fine... I've tried everything and in pubg the stutters continue, they are not all the time, but they are annoying and the gameplay is not smooth. I believe it is a cpu problem with the game, watching some videos on youtube you can see that the 1 percent low is always low. I believe that for PUBG intel it is a better choice, for example the 13700k, it has even lower performance in AVG fps, but in gameplay smoothness it is superior. If I had known this earlier, I would not have taken the 5800x3d, maybe a 13700kf and a b660 and the value would be very close.
if anyone who has the 5800x3d knows anything to improve, or say if the experience is similar, I would be grateful.. I keep following

Are you sure 2000 IF is stable?
I think so, both with infinity fabric in AUTO and at 2000mhz I don't have any problems, and in both pubg problems continue, I've tried decreasing the memories to 3600 to see if it was something related to ram, but nothing works
