Hey guys!

Just a quick question, as I'm going to be building a new rig within the upcoming months, got a few parts, but not everything.

I'll be going straight to watercooling the CPU from build and the two GFX Cards will go on their own watercooling loop when the time calls for it :)

Problem is, I'm stuck between the choice of either the D-Tek FuZion or the D-Tek FuZion v2.0 -- The CPU I have right now and will be using is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450, so I was thinking if you lot knew which would be better for me to choose for cooling the CPU :)

I'll post more to do with my system (the one I'll be building) shortly, that's for those who wish to know what's going in the rig or if people need to know to be able to make a decision :)

Anyhow, hope you all can share your opinions about the two CPU Blocks and care bare me a little more light on the situation hehe! :)

Well the V2 was a redesigned to on the V1. From what I have seen the V1 has the quad spacer and nozzel, while it has to be purchased seperately in the V2.

Dont , however, know much about the temperature difference between them!

Cheers for the replies guys :)

Pretty damn fast here, which is one thing I love about TPU! It's awesome on it's own, and it's community makes it so much more

Anyhow, about this quad spacer and nozzle, what are those about? I saw that you can purchase a seperate quad spacer for the v2 water block, but never noticed anything about it on the v1.

So naturally the v1 can accomodate a quad core CPU with no modifications I'm gathering, while the v2 will have to have the quad spacer and nozzle bought seperately and modded to the water block so it could accomodate better water circulation for the cooling of the CPU?

If I'm wrong by all means correct me, it's better to know beforehand than afterwards =)

Since I'm after benchmarking the system when it's fully built, and I intend on overclocking the computer when I read more into it, I'll leave that for now though since there's a lot to read up on :D

The benchmarks will be done on stock settings with CPU watercooled, then when I get the watercooling loop setup for the GPU's when/if I need them there will be a stock benchmark for the two watercooling loops intergrated into the system, after that when I manage to get a nice, steady, safe and stable overclock of the system I'll benchmark again to see how much improvement it gives :)

I'm hoping to get the new rig on the F@H team here too, I'd like to contribute towards this place since I've known about it a while and I like it here :) (Albeit not a regular poster, but I'm hoping to be in time ^^) -- For this, it will need to wait since I need to know more on it too :D

Anyway back on topic, I'm hoping to get one decent enough so I can get it straight in and be as hassle free as possible, if it's only a couple of degree's C between the two, then I'll just get the more simplistic one since I'm not a fan of taking water blocks apart and refitting them as I'd be a little paranoid about it possibly springing a leak, though I will be leak testing for 24hs out of the system, unlike the one now hehe, mind you I "technically" did the one I have in this system out of the tower itself bar the blocks :D

v2 does have a q nozzel thing ;)

So just the plate is seperate then?

The nozzel is split in the middle to create two seperate flows of water one for each core in the Q's!

You have to purchase the quad insert separately for the V2. I don't really get it.. The insert that comes with it is one big hole in the middle with notches at each corner for the return. The quad-insert splits the the stream in two. From the looks of it, I would think it impedes the flow, however it directs the stream to hit on each chip inside the ihs.

You can get a good review of the V2 here and some comparisons with the older V1 as well.

Thanks guys, will do a little more reading on the link oily provided and I'll more than likely be back tomorrow, going to scoot to bed in a sec!

Late nights are catching up on me rapidly lol, not the best of things hehe! :D

Again thanks for the input so far, tomorrow I'll add what components I'll be using in my rig so you can all see/know what I'm working towards :) -- Well, I'll actually list everything, components and peripherals :)

Hey fellas, after reading the review and contemplating more I decided to go with the D-Tek FuZion v2 with the Quad Optimized Mid Chamber.

Just purchased (so have on order right now) the water block, reservoir and radiator =)

The above is what I'm going for in the system, the 'X' defines what I currently have or have placed an order on, currently showing no PSU, well to be honest I'm unsure on what PSU I want yet, I've heard good things about the Ultra PSU's but not read up on them yet.

If anyone has any ideas on some nice PSU's would you care to share? I'm thinking in the region of 1300W+ since it will require around 1kW with how it stands for now, and that's not including the extra watercooling loop I'll have for the GPU's and the overclocking I will be doing at some point :D

Hope you all like the info and thanks again for the help in making me decide which water block to use! :)

Very nice set-up you have planned there mate. Will look forward to seeing the finished product.

If you are going with the Laing DDC 3.2 Ultra you might want to look at one of the Petras Tech DDC-01s Tops for it.A very good replacement top for that pump. You can get the pump and top together here -

http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/product.php?productid=4821&cat=537&page=1

As for PSU's, I'm not really up on the best there is out there at the moment...some people liking multiple rails, others a good strong single rail.Maybe someone with more insight will jump in here and suggest some better examples. Here are a couple of 1000W+ PSU's

Silverstone SST-DA1200 1200w/90A

Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W

Coolermaster Real Power M1000 1000w

Thanks for the new link oily, I never knew about those, they seem to have a nice bunch of stuff and it's a UK base too which is even more convenient :D

I just had a quick browse of those power supplies, I'm not too up on them myself nor great on what to look for in them, I hear the Coolermasters are awesome and the one I have in my current rig is a Hyper Type-R.

For the Petras Tech top, would you say that is better than the Plexitop, This one?

I've read up on the Plexitop being a good addition to the Laing DDC 3.2 Ultra, not heard anything about the Petras before, do you happen to have any information about them at all? I hope you don't mind me asking :)

No problems for the links.I have dealt with Specialtech quite a number of times and they are a good site and never had any problems.

For a review of DDC pump tops you can take a read of this -

http://www.martinsliquidlab.com/DDC32PumpTopTesting.html

The Petras Tech top is very highly regarded in most reviews.

Thanks fella, I will take a good read of it shortly, will be off to work within the next 20mins.

So I'll more than likely get back to you later on it =) -- I really appreciate the help you're giving me by the way, I'll also try to get some really good high quality shots of all parts and the system when I'm done with it and put it up in the gallery at some point, hehe!

Anyway, again thanks so much for the help, and catch you later! :)

Cheers Oily, you're a real gem ^^

Just reading up on the pump link you gave me, will read the watercooling thread tomorrow more than likely, I'm seriously really eager to get this rig built, I'm like a little kid waiting for his large candy floss! Hahaha!

Anyhow, will keep the questions coming, the main thing I will be questioning is when it's all built and prepped for overclocking, I'll be keeping it stock settings for a while until I get the proper feel of Vista, I like it now but just want to get used to it because I start loosening the bollocks off the rig :D

No problem mate, that's what we are here to do :).Any help I can give just ask,if you have any problems you will get a world of help by posting in the water cooling thread or here.
There is quite a lot of info in the thread but if you run into any trouble you can always post a question and some of the guys will get you an answer. There are a lot more people better versed than me on water cooling so any advice you get will be first class.

As for Vista..give it time and you will find that you no longer feel the need to use XP.Been dual booting the both for over a year now and am using XP very little now...may even delete the partition with XP on it soon.

And when you decide to OC that rig let us know and post up some benchmark results in the different threads that you will find in the Overclocking and Cooling section.
Good luck with the build and make sure what ever you do that you leak test your loop before firing up your new build....give it a good 12-16 hours to be sure.

Not trying to be argumentative, but my V1 has a mid block and comes with a kit with 5 nozzels.

You are correct on it being a bit more efficient on flow, and I do like the rounded corners. TBH I cant really tell round from square corners once its in my case tho...lol

I put my money on the V1 because I got it used and at a nice discount!:toast:

As Sneeky says you might be able to pick up a V1 cheaper, now that the V2 is out, and the difference in your temps would be very little I would think..although don't hold me to that :)

The only thing I think is a plus with the V2 is the mounting system as I had to buy the Pro mount kit for my V1 to make it easier when installing/removing the block from the system. But then again that adds to the price.

Take a look in the BST thread you might pick up a good second hand V1 cheap there.

I've actually ordered the D-Tek FuZion v2 with the Quad Core Mid Chamber =)

It should arrive any day now hehe! As for the pump at hand, the top block, from reading the review and what not the XSPC Reservoir Top is the best top to have on the Laing DDC 3.2, although I'm not going to go for that one for the fact I'll be having the bay reservoir I took a closer look at the plexi top and the petra top, both look stunning and great finish, but I think I'm more inclined to go for the plexi top to be honest! So I think I'll go for that choice :)

As for Vista, I dual booted 32-bit Vista on this rig with XP Pro for a good 3months and love it, I'll be doing a complete switch with the new rig and going completely 64-bit Vista, no dual booting etc, just straight over since I like Vista to start with, just will take me some time to get used to all the gadgets and where everything is that's what I meant :D

Also, for the benchmarks, that's a guaranteed thing happening hehe, definitely doing those and for the OC'ing I'll post a thread up when I got the rig up and running and I'll get as much as possible out of it with the help of you guys :)

For the leak test, I'll have all the water cooling bits soon, just need to decide on PSU, I'm going to read up on these Ultra's and see what they are like, just don't know anything bar from stable rails on what to go for in them lol, I'll need 2x 8 PCI Express connections for the 2 9800GX2 cards I'll be running though, so need to keep an eye on the PSU's for that I will :D

Anyhow, for the leak test, I was thinking more like 24hours to make sure all the connections are safe and stable and not one single tiny water droplet comes out of it :D
