Can anyone give me a good recommendation? I'm a bit stuck and don't want to pay over the top for something.

Like the title states, intel (45nm socket 775) and DDR3.

Also crossfire/sli would be a bonus but not that important.

got any actual model names and numbers that you know to be good?

Literally i'm swamped with this motherboard. Far too many and they all look exactly the same but somehow different. Plus finding a decent one in the UK looks like it's going to be hard!

The DX38BT,DX48BT and Smackover are board models,I dont know if they are any good those are just reference boards.

MSi X58 Eclipse LGa1366 supports
ddr3 to 24gb and sli and crossfire
supports raid 0,1 5, 10

should make it a little clearer, this is to run a e8600, no i7 for me just yet!

you havent said that you wanted a LGA775 board

Pretty much any Asus/DFI/Gigabyte (not in order of priority). Chipsets; X38/48 Some P35/P45 and 790i. Best bet is to look into the X38 or 790i. BUT! Morgoth has a point, small premium budgetwise from those boards to an X58.

plus on X58 you can run sli or and crossfire so you can allways dual your gpu's
