Hey guys,
I'm just trying to find out what graphics card I have.
I bought an X850 pro from ebay, but all the tests I do on performance with 3DMark 06 has my performance well under any other X850 pro's.
I checked in my settings and it has this information:

Adapter Type:
RADEON X800/X850 Series

Adapter Information:
Chip Type: RADEON X800 GTO (0x5d4F)

Can you guys tell me how to once and for all find out what graphics card I have, and if I have an X850 Pro, how do I get higher performance??

Cheers

X800 GTO usualy have R423 or R430 chips, which are X800 chips,
there are some GTO from powercolor and sapphire which have R480,

you could use ati tools to check the chip signature, but the only sure way is removing heatsink and looking at the plate on the die,

Yeah. I agree. Just look at the GPU, then you know beyond a shadow of a doubt what you have.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have an X850 Pro.

Could you guys also help me, I have flashed the BIOS to make my card run like an X850 XT, it says its an X850 XT but is still says only 12 pipelines are being used in ATITools and the fan on the card is not spinning??
I have tryred reinstalling all my drivers but that does nothing
Now I have gone into ATITools and got my fan running, but it only does it when I go into ATITool.
I have also run "atiflash -i" as suggested in this forum to see if those pipelines are locked and it has nothing in there that says anything about locked pipelines.

I would really appreciate any help,
I have flashed the BIOS so that it thinks I have an X800GT, that at least has my fan going without me doing anything but I would love it if I could have it detecting it as an X850 XT and the 16 pipelines were in use.

Cheers

the fan issue must be a bios mismatch,
flashing to the original bios should resolve it,
if you didnt back it up, which is stupid, check the ati bios collection section on this same website,

now, if you have a X850 Pro, and the flash didnt get you the 16pipelines, it means the pipelines are either locked or too damaged to use, the first one is more probable becuase on most occacions damaged pipelines activate and show artifacts,

you could try some on gpu soldering, theres some guides around,
i wouldnt recommend it,

my advice, for around $200 you can get a geniune X850XT,
for 270-300 you can pick up a 7900GT

start saving up,

Yeah. I kind of do like it. I know you were being a sarcastic ass, but it kind of confirms what the other said if more than one person agrees with it. One person might be wrong, more than one in consensus kind of affirms the opinion of the other. I think when responding to such a post that you might consider whether or not the post actually bolsters your credibility or not before you go out of your way to anger others and make yourself look hateful and foolish.

I totally agree....In Fact...."yea, sure thats right"

It's called a "Consensus of Opinion" Aevum....which Is why Message boards like this exist......unless you consider yourself "The" authority.

Lighten up Fella. :rockout:

adz81.....you have to consider the possibility that you got taken..and may have bought a damaged card....I once again "totally Agree" with the Idea of getting an X850XT for under $200 as well...just cannot go wrong with It.
