e8500 - 9x not 9.5x multiplier???

Hey guys, so heres what happened. Ive put everything together apart from the hard drives which have not arrived yet, hence no os installed. however, i decided to check that all the temps were O.K and that all the hardware was being registered in the bios.

I plugged the comp into my mon, it registered my e8500 and said 333 x 9.5 : 3.16

Then when into bios to check the temps,went to system mon, it was at 45 on start up with my triton 81 installed, went into fan control and changed to manual 100%.

Then next time it posts it states e8500 but says 333 x 9 : 3.0

i now cant change the multiplier. Its locked like a e8400 at 9x

I may be a bit of a noob but how the hell did i manage to do that by changing fan speed?

Fill out your system specs in the userCP. Try resetting the CMOS by finding the jumper or removing the motherboard battery for 10 minutes. If the problem still persists, update the bios when you get your hard drive.

I get the exact same thing with the rig in my specs. Turning c1e on fixes it for me (if you don`t mind speedstep)

okay, so i tried resetting the cmos, and upon the first boot it registered 3.17ghz with the 9.5x multi. then, first time i attempted to save anything and go back into bios straight back to 9x multi.

also c1e was already enabled.

what the hellis going on? lol

any more ideas greatly appreciated...

board is the 780i, by a chinese brand called colorful lol

Was going to look into your manual for bios settings, but it's not available for download.

Do you see anything regarding "n/2 ratio"? Enable it if disabled.

well, i actually live in shanghai, which is how i came about buying the chinese mobo. but none of my chinese mates would actually kno how to translate half the stuff in this here manual.

i have located the n/2 ratio, its disabled, but i cannot enable it. damn..

Of course, sorry :s. As JrRacinFan stated it was simply due to the n/2 ratio being disabled.
At first it looks as if it is locked but then you simply type in the multiplier ratio manually (i just typed in 9) then for some reason that allows you to enable the n/2 ratio. Then just saved and rebooted, and all was well.
