GPU: Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 7900 XTX
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
Motherboard: ASRock B650E PG Riptide WiFi
RAM: Trident Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 CL30 (2x16GB)

Hello, I attempted to update the VBIOS on my graphics card by downloading the latest version, "022.001.002.039" After that, I installed AMDVBFlash and followed the steps in the PDF guide. I first used the command "amdvbflash -s 0 old.rom" to save the ROM from the card. Then, I proceeded to flash the downloaded ROM, but I received the error: "Failed to flash VBIOS."

After encountering this error, I tried flashing the saved(old.rom) ROM instead, but I received the same error. I restarted my computer, but there was no display.

I then disconnected the PCI-E power cables from the graphics card, switched to iGPU in the BIOS settings, and was able to get a display.

After that, I reconnected the PCI-E power cables to the graphics card, rebooted my system, but I could not get past the screen shown in the image below.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions to resolve this issue.

When you unplugged the power cables from the 7900XTX did you remove it from the system as well? Typically, there will be an error message that states you need to connect the power to the graphics card to proceed.

Does your 7900XTX have a BIOS switch on it?

What was the purpose of trying to update the VBIOS on your card?

I actually removed the GPU both physically from the system and also unplugged the power cables. In both cases, Windows was able to boot without issues. However, whenever I reconnect the power cables to GPU, the system gets stuck on the screen shown in the image.

Unfortunately, the Pulse model doesn't have a Dual BIOS feature.

I tried updating the VBIOS because I suspected the hotspot temperatures on the card were high, and I also hoped it might lead to some performance improvement.

In the BIOS, you should be able to set the iGPU as the primary card and use that to get a display. Hopefully, that will get you back into Windows so then you can see what is going on with the 7900XTX. You may end up needing to get a SPI Flash Programmer to attempt to resurrect the card if you cannot get it recognized in your system or in another system.

For future reference, a VBIOS will not help with hotspot temperatures, and rarely any sort of noticeable performance improvement.

When I unplug the GPU power cables and allow Windows to boot, I shut down the system and enter the BIOS, where I set iGPU as the primary display and save the settings. However, whenever I reconnect the GPU power cables, the system gets stuck on the screen shown in the image. Additionally, when the GPU power cables are connected, no matter how many times I press the F2 key, I am unable to access the BIOS and the system directly goes to the screen shown in the image.

When you plug the GPU into the system, are you using the GPU to the display or are you using the iGPU to go to the display?

You may look into the external programmer area for your graphic card. Or find someone who can do that for you.

I did not saw any downloads for firmware there. Maybe it's hidden in another area.

Nope

The iGPU should be the primary display because I saved the BIOS settings with iGPU as the primary when the GPU was not installed. However, when I reconnect the GPU power cables, I am unable to access the BIOS and the system goes directly to the screen in the image. I also disabled the dGPU only mode option in the BIOS, but the result is still the same.

I would say in this case, if you are able, try the GPU in another system. It sounds like the 7900XTX is bricked and you will need the external programmer to get it working again.

There is definitely no need to update a Vbios like it is a driver unless the manufacturer tells you to, to correct an issue. Being newer does not mean it is better in most cases.

Get a spi flasher
