Fake R7 240 4gb gddr5?

Thank you for this replay.

I see the overclocked bios is closer to mine, even closer than the (HIS r7 240) I flashed.
But I have concern about the overclocking if it could damage the gpu or effect the performance?

Could installing different bios with 4gb vram fix the games crashing on 2gb vram usage?.

If the the problem is whithin the bios you have and there is no hardware (memory) problem, it should.

Hello again,

I reflashed with the overclocked bios @eledx710 mentioned and it worked perfectly with the latest AMD driver and without games crashes.

I finally fixed this GPU with the help of everyone. I was roaming around the problem for 2 years until I found about (vbios) flashing.

I want to thank everyone for there help and especially @bencrutz and @eledx710 for the bios references (HIS & Powercolor) bioses for r7 240 GPU.

PS: For future reference:

AMD R7 240 4 GB BIOS (Old): https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/203196/203196

Powercolor R7 240 2048 MB BIOS (New): https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/190643/190643

One last concern about GPU temperature; when I play GTA V it goes to 70-73C with fan goes to 50-55% of its rounds, is that normal?

Again, I salute you.

GPU temps are fine for <insert your choice of graphics card>. If those temps are good or bad for that specific card, I do not know. But 70c and 50% fan speed sounds completely normal for a GPU in general.

glad you found a working BIOS in the end, it sounded like a frankenstein card where mixed and matched whatever hardware they had on hand

Do they not understand that selling these cards genuine at cheap prices they'd likely make more money?

Maybe because it's illegal or it will cost them more to produce these gpus (parts, shipping, copyright, etc) genuinely.

great to hear that!

if you are interested in venturing further, you can edit vBIOS with VBE7 to see you can overclock higher, not for the faint of heart though ;)

Thank you so much.
I think those are the highest values for a stable overclocking. Actually I'm trying to set core clock and memory clock to original values but I can't determine what are these values. So far I got (780MHz and 830MHz core clock) and (1000MHz, 1100MHz and 1150MHz) default values and (voltage 30W). If you can help me I would appreciate it.

Thank you again.
