This is different from the game mode that was in that April Creators update right, if so then this is awesome to hear.

EDIT: reading the comments and watching some of the video... Wow, it's like a free GPU upgrade. It's like one of those Download some more RAM jokes.. but real

I am somewhat skeptical, to say the least. Will wait for someone here to confirm.

If true, I would not doubt it's the same FPS the standard creators update mysteriously "lost."

that's what one guy commented as well. Maybe they just fixed their shitty Game Mode :laugh:

most of the comments though are reporting that they did have increased performance. so it's either that or they just fixed and regained the lost FPS from before

Well, I hadn't upgraded to the Creators Update yet so if I jump to this I should be able to confirm. That being said, is it worth the bother?

I'm pretty sure all this does is temporarily disable services and some other built in apps/spyware.

I bet his kiddy fanbase is gonna expect big gains with their integrated graphics.

I noticed higher CPU usage on the right, did the scheduler get tweaked, especially for games?

Performance increase is there, it hit before 10 insider builds few months ago.

The increase is not an increase really, it is more like less slowdowns. R-T-B is right that they screwed up with the previous mass release. The overall latency seems to go down. On the other hand nvidia driver for me still is the biggest latency hog.

But the GPU usage is actually lower. And the GPU clocks are often tiny bit lower while delivering higher framerate. I did try Game Mode for the lolz and I do have to agree it does seem to do something. I didn't make a proper test like this guy above, but I did have bad framerate drops even on GTX 1080Ti in natural Selection 2 on Wooza's 50 player server (game usually accepts 16-20 players). With Game Mode fired up, not a single struggle or framerate drop. I didn't even realize till this very point as I've been using Game Mode enabled. I wonder if that was just random thing or something real. And if it affects all graphic cards or just Radeon. Would be nice to know that as well.
Either way, it's good to hear we're getting performance boost. I hope Microsoft could further optimize Windows 10 to deliver even better performance or even bring it ridiculously close to the consoles. Now that would be properly awesome. But I'm fine with what we got now :)

it f-cked up the game i am currently playing.. shadow of war.. i kept getting short periods of black screens with the fps drooping down to near zero while the black screen flickering was going on.. re-installed the nvidia drivers didnt stop it..

ether way i ran a back up and got rid of it..

Strange, I am doing orc mass murdering fine without issues... altou I am one build past already this one.

Fullscreen? Vsync type?

i upgraded to the new build of windows at the same time i went ryzen, and i saw definite FPS gains... makes me wonder now which one caused it (or a combination of both)

I did some testing as well. PUBG is a bad game for benchmarking since it’s online only so I didn’t even bother to get exact numbers.

Original Windows 10 install - PUBG performing really well, FPS never falls bellow 75 (vsync on)

Creators Update - while average FPS remained about the same, i noticed that game wasn’t as smooth as on my previous install. Occasional FPS dips out of nowhere.

Fall’s Creator Update. Game feels nice and smooth again, even without game mode on. Rock solid 75FPS. Very comparable to my first test, maybe a little bit better.

I didn’t have enough time to play with other games but at least in PUBG there’s a big performance degradation. Why?

it could be just a fluke for me.. but after the fall upgrade it was definitely there.. the game was fine before the upgrade and is back to being fine again after getting rid of it..

1440 full screen SLI with the latest nvidia drivers.. i am seeing over 100 fps so dont really need any extra performance.. the windows fall update can stay in the future for me.. :)

Contrary to what most ppl are saying, I found the improvement not to be from enabling game mode. Before the update I had 79 fps in Mankind Divided (static shot, not much going on, to ensure it's a fair comparison). After the update I have 84 fps, both in game mode and non game mode.

TBH I didnt see an increase at all, but I disable that game mode crap.

I don't even have an option for game mode , it just says it's compatible. Am I missing something ?

I'm convinced...downloading...

While in game press Win + G buttons. It might not work in true full screen mode.

Nothing happens, in fullscreen or not.

No i`m not, but did you try another color scheme, maybe the button is there.
Also they say that there is no gain in FCU on their configuration

EDIT:
It doesn't even look the same , you sure you're using the Fall update ?

I'm not sure that this commenter watched the video. Also, there is still game mode. It is a new version of game mode that is enabled via game bar.

make sure you have the gamebar turned on

apparently gamemode needs to be enabled via the gamebar , according to the Learn more link in the M$ settings.

"Game Mode helps ensure that you have the best possible gaming experience while playing games on Windows 10. When you use Game Mode, we make gaming your PC's top priority so you get the best game quality and performance.

To use Game Mode, make sure it's turned on for each game you play. To turn on Game Mode:

  1. Open the Game bar by pressing the Windows logo key + G.
  2. Select Settings in the Game bar.
  3. In the General tab, select the check box for "Game Mode."
Some games may have Game Mode turned on automatically. If the game is already running Game Mode, the check box will already be selected."

see, it is tucked WAYYY up in the top left corner of my screen, it looked like it wasnt positioned correctly for me.i pressed win+G, then it asked if my desktop was a game & i said yup, then it opened what u see.below

Regarding the usefulness of this function in general, I'm assuming it's going to be more of a thing kind of like ready boost ,where it makes out of date and weaker PCs a little bit more capable ,but anything like a higher end computer or in that area it'll make no difference. I'm currently testing it with Grandtheft auto five
