I have Fallout 3 via Steam and I beat the game a while back. Now I was looking to get into the expansions and such but I have a problem. All my games were played out normally and not through "Live". When I sign into my "live" account my saves are no longer valid. If I download the expansions will I lose all my progress? The last expansion is a continuation of the original game and I would hate to have to start all over again.

I'm not 100% sure I can answer your question, but when I started fresh playing with Live, until I logged into Live, it wouldn't let me load any saves. When using Live, your saves may have to be linked with your login, so you may be correct in thinking that you won't be able to use your old saves.

To backup your game save, just copy the Fallout3 folder to somewhere safe. Then play around as much as you like and just restore it if it goes bad.

On my Vista system, it looks like this:

C:\Users\Qubit\Documents\My Games\Fallout3

Substitute your own Windows profile name for Qubit.
