Fastest CPU for ABIT Fp-IN9

I have a Fatal1ty Fp-IN9 motherboard.

I am currently using an Intel 955 CPU.

I wonder what is the fastest 32 bit CPU I can use for this board?

Will a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 Yorkfield 3.2GHz LGA 775 136W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80569QX9770 work in this board?

Is this overkill?

Is there something cheaper that can offer similar performance?

I don't recommend the QX9770 i recommend anything that isn't an Extreme because the cost just isn't worth it

get a decent core 2 duo or quad (e8500 or q9400) i dunno if it supports the quad, but the duo after a bios flash its almost sure
