This thread makes me wonder how many people these days have a lifestyle which mainly consists of sitting behind their own PC at home for most of their time awake. I cannot imagine any other era in human history in which people were, "alone", or atleast in their own house, for such a big part of their lives.
On topic though, I have a server thats turned on 24/7 a day, but with all the power savings I can think of enabled, and fairly low power hardware(it all runs on an ancient bestec 300W PSU).
My main PC some days runs from 7am to 11 pm, other days when i'm busy at the uni or away from home it'll be off, or switched on perhaps just an hour or two a day.
