Ghost of Tsushima Performance Benchmark

The performance is kinda embarrassing considering this is a PS4 game, and you can clearly see that if you look at the low quality textures and other stuff
What would the ps4 be playing this at 1080p 30 fps with medium settings?

...for this game. And tis still not faster, so 4090 can keep its halo price intact just fine even if you were just looking at this game and its all you played. After all, then you would defo want the best perf in it, right?
This is the reference XTX that is like 10% slower than AIB. Pretty sure the 480W AQUA BIOS would be faster at stock than the 4090 here.

Idk why people hate the RX 7900XTX, look at that fps in a brand new game. It's very impressive and good. 8 fps difference between that and 4090, which btw cost DOUBLE the price of XTX. Yeah, really makes you think. Even if the fps gap was 15-20, i still dunno if its worth the double price tag ;o Anyways, i got an RTX 3070 and this game will run fine, thanks to FSR 3 and AMD.

Thank you AMD, you do what Nvidia dont.

Surely that has to be a troll...
Idk, in Europe... the AMD card is 900, and RTX 4090 is... wait for it..................... is................................... wait for itttttttttttttttttttt.......................................isssssssssss 2000-2500!!!! If you want that extra 10(its that much for this game)-30 fps, sure.. enjoy. Id rather enjoy 1000-1500 euro in my pocket. I got an Nvidia card too, so this is just a honest observation of prices, no AMD fanboy here. If i were to buy a card today, it probably won't be from Nvidia. We will see how things go with their 50 series. 5080 better be a real card, and not super nerfed.

It's a 4 year old console port. If that's your definition of a new game sure.
I think Sony/Nixxes deserves all the congratulations for all the ports that have arrived in recent years, they may not be perfect but they are in much better condition than 99% of AAA games.

They are awesome for sure I almost automatically buy every one of their ports even if I don't plan on replaying the game. I do kinda wish they were independent and handled PC ports in general like they use to like Rise of the Tomb Raider but Sony has enough decent games to keep them busy I just wish they were 12 to 18 months after the Playstation release and not the 24+ months we typically see.

Ghost of Tsushima is even running on calculators from several generations ago.
Agreed I bought almost all of them on launch day which is something I don't usually do.

Right now have
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • God of War
  • Spider-Man Remastered
  • Spider-Man Miles Morales
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Helldivers 2
  • Predator Hunting Grounds

Still need to grab
  • Horizon Dawn Forbidden West
  • The Last of Us Part 1
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Days Gone
  • Uncharted

Nice, with DLSS running this at solid 4K60+ maxed out wouldn't be a problem with my 3080. I'd hope that more studios would optimize their games like this these days.

A 7900XTX punches slightly above its weight in one game with decidedly yesteryears visuals, and people jump in claiming its the clear choice, well I can't say it's unexpected logic from that demographic.

Keen to play this myself, but I'll wait for a special and some more patches. Looks like Max settings 4k DLSS quality will be flawless on a 3080.

It's runs OK on my 4090 slightly worse than expected considering how old this game is but it's smooth without any hitches which I'll take any day... Tempted to sell it and get a 7900XTX since it's such a good value I doubt I'll miss all the thing it crushes any AMD gpu at....

This harks back to more enlightened times in gaming. A rock solid port with great performance on all prices classes of GPU, the game look beautiful and plays beautiful. It seems ages since we got such a hassle-free release.

So sad AMD to see 6800XT still beating the 7800XT, making a mockery of the naming.

Great review W1zzard, I am a little sad I would need a nvidia card for the best image though with DLAA, I think TAA has been a nightmare as far as blurry games go, and I am not impressed with FSR at all, AMD just really doesn't know how to hit a home run sometimes.

That being said, for the price I paid I am very happy. I won't get to this game until I have a rtx 6090 or the amd equivalent anyway, my backlog is vast.

Not sure Radeon performing 10% better than the norm in this game is anything to write home about, since any RTX owner can enjoy the superior features like DLSS/FG/Reflex LOL.

I'm playing the game @ 4K 115FPS capped with DLSS.Quality + Frame Gen, barely use 220W.

FSR3 implementation in this game while far better than average, still falls short of DLSS3. I just love it when game devs implementing Upscaling/Frame Gen techs from all vendors too.

another win for 7900 xtx vs a 4080/super in raster. keep in mind the 7900xtx has been as low as $600 in the US and a few times around $800

RTX cards have matured like, dare I say it... A fine wine features/polish wise, no doubt about it. I'd take that in any game that uses it over a rare minor perf bump in the odd last gen console port.

Also, how did you score it in your country, I assume a VPN? I thought I read in another thread your ein one Sony pulled the pin on.

If you pick up the game, give 'Native XeSS AA' a try. It looked pretty good in Horizon Forbidden West when I played it on RDNA3. Also, XeSS in 'Ultra Quality +" was much better than FSR.

I'll pick up GoT once I finish Forbidden West.

Game is really good, make you feel like a badass samurai. When Sony gets their heads out of the sand and sell the game globally I will definitely buy it.

It's really dependent on memory bandwidth, I see. Unusually strong performance on the XTX. The RTX 3090's also punching pretty high here, I must wonder why the gap between the XTX and 4080S gets smaller at 4K instead of wider, though. That's pretty much the opposite of what usually happens. I suppose it's something similar to Starfield, the game is coded in a way that is friendly to the RDNA 3 architecture's register sizes and/or wavefronts.

It just shows that AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX is the better choice over the much more expensive RTX 4090.

I guess dreaming is free :)

Oh amazing idea! Now let's get a 4090 to 480 W and it's going to win again... but say, weren't you the same fellows who were always complaining about the 4090's power consumption? Your poor card might catch FIRE. If I wasn't dramatic enough hehe :nutkick:

Eh who am I kidding. You can put 1000 W through a XTX and it's still not going to produce the 4090's results. There's this thing called scaling...

hi everyone, i have installed Ghost of Tsushima on my PC and am playing it using the PS5 controller; however, I can’t seem to access the interactive sound features through the speaker of the controller, such as the sounds of the swords, the horse, or the ambient music at the lake.
any solution?

Amazing review. Never expected that RDNA 2 would age this good, better than Ampere which is an elegant architecture but its driver overhead is showing its age, even worse on Ada Lovelace. The scaling is amazing.
nVidia GPUs don't typically age well. Always low on the VRAM and some are even gimped in other ways to which there have been class actions on. Are pretty nice for that first couple years. I've had them before. Haven't gone back since Fermi. Didn't like how they aged.

The 7800 XT is the natural successor to the 6700 XT not the 6800 XT
unfortunately AMD marketing decided to screw up a whole gen of cards by changing the naming scheme for each tire of cards just so they can earn some extra bucks, truly pathetic

@Dr. Dro 4090 is already a 450W card. A max OC 600W on a water 4090 is like 10% faster, often less. So 84fps up to maybe 92fps if GoT scales well. At max OC on my XTX it runs 20-25% over reference, which coming from 75fps +22% would be 92fps.
