Ghost of Tsushima Performance Benchmark

After playing for a while, is it me or the DLAA implementation is really really crappy because of extreme blur it adds to the image? I mean, TAA looks almost the same, in a negative way.
So far DLSS Quality seems to be the best option here. That or SMAA T2X for native, but the FPS loss compared to DLSS Quality is not worthen, imo...

DLAA/DLSS/FSR are all based on TAA, whether a little better or not they are still temporal filters with all their blur splendor. Yes, SSAA/SMAA deliver better quality, and especially image sharpness.

Instead of all the obsession with RT and Upscaling, GPU companies should be looking for a way to retire TAA. There is no point in continuing to advance the graphics side to see games through a dull lens.

I use a small amount of Nvidia sharpen+ filter, really make texture look much clearer

hi everyone, i have installed Ghost of Tsushima on my PC and am playing it using the PS5 controller; however, I can’t seem to access the interactive sound features through the speaker of the controller, such as the sounds of the swords, the horse, or the ambient music at the lake.
any solution?
Hey I'm not sure if you've figured it out yet but are you using the Dual Sense over Bluetooth or wired through USB? I know on some of the other Sony/Nixxes ports to get full functionality with a Dual Sense it has to be wired. I haven't seen anything online saying one way or the other for Ghost of Tsushima and I'm at work so I haven't been able to test it myself yet.

Right now have -
  • God of War
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • The Last of Us Part 1
  • Days Gone
Waiting for -
  • Horizon Forbidden West
Similar, but I waited untill they were all below £20 and at the time none required a PSN account. They day that changes, I will remove them from my steam library and repurchase on GoG.

It's just you, tried it myself just now DLAA I'm finding the best overall, no "extreme" blur at all. But hey, some people just can't stand TAA of any kind and you might be one of them. DLAA is the best TAA derivative.

Have you try to compare it with DLSS Quality? Or if you want native, with SMAA T2X? ;)

Yeah I have, DLSS is just almost as good (need to nitpick) with a good perf uplift, DLAA is the best of native for me personally, SMAA T2X looks good, not as good as DLAA and isn't worth the perf hit. "native" isn't my hill to die on though, being that better or worse are both possible, I go for the balance that suits me best, typically DLSSQ+sharpen for the near DLAA resolve with a healthy performance boost.

It just shows that AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX is the better choice over the much more expensive RTX 4090.

sure. if you love random screen flickers and s**t drivers. etc. i had a 7900XTX for about 3 weeks before returning it. constant screen flickers on MULTIPLE freesync premium displays (that nvidia GPUs didn't have issues with). couldn't play sons of the forest with friends because the drivers would crash any time i would look at any body of water. thought that maybe my "red devil" card was a dud. went and exchanged it for an reference card at microcenter. same thing was happening. i know everyone has "stories", but in my experience AMD GPUs have always been a nightmare. i'm not saving money if I can't use the damn thing.

as a side note, 7900xt and xtx are so amazing that amd has to keep cutting prices due to low sales and returns.

Sounds like you picked up a bad card.

Welcome to the real world of PC gaming.

In your mind: Nvidia drivers have not had, have and will never have problems. After all, patches never need to be released continuously, and GPUs certainly don't catch fire.
In the real world, each new driver generates more bugs and incompatibilities and the list of problems to fix NEVER ends; Just because you were unlucky and couldn't deal with it doesn't mean there aren't millions of other happy users who will probably never encounter the same problem.

Did he say that or did you invent it? I read both posts and I can tell which it is. Strawman bad.

It's possible to have fuss free experiences with either, in fact it's incredibly likely to be the case. But you don't need to come running to AMD's defence/Nvidia attack when someone recounts an honest bad experience.

Honest experience because you live with him and guarantee it? The truth is that inexperienced people most of the time have no idea what is causing the incompatibility/issue, but if the GPU is AMD, of all the infinite variables, the primary and unquestionable statement chosen is "the driver is to blame". This is futile rambling.

Perception of the world through the eyes of a myopic person is questionable. Honesty is a valuable asset that few people have. it's really unpleasant to respond to hypocrites who talk about honesty and piracy in the same thread, in my opinion, you should be banned instantly because that's a crime, and Techpowerup couldn't/shouldn't collude.

This is why half the time I straight up ignore post on reddit.

90% of the time user error and no way to verify the poster knows what they are doing.

I'd take that over literally putting words in their mouth, like you did in a fallacious attempt to devalue their relayed experience and engage in whataboutism.

That comment was dealt with by forum administration, and bears zero consequence to the discussion at hand except you again trying to devalue and invalidate my argument. I'm willing to take my values over what been displayed of yours, and you talk about honesty...

Ghost of Tsushima is the best single player game Sony has published on PC, despite sale ban in 2/3rd countries in the world , what the heck was Sony thinking LOL

Hot off the heels of the PSN / Helldivers fiasco, they were probably willing to settle for lower sales overall while trying to mitigate that avenue for negative press, but in some ways that negative press is still surrounding it.

Heck yeah, I have changed my Ratchet&Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman Remastered, Days Gone Steam reviews to give Sony a message, not sure if it reaches though haha

There are only 2 ways that gamers have to fight back against Publisher arrogance. One way that works if enough people do it in unison and make it clear why they are doing it (not buying the games) and the other way is less effective and works occasionally (review bombing) but sometimes that has no effect whatsoever. I'm looking at you Deep Silver (Metro Exodus).

Um, nope. Good luck enabling DLAA on the Radeon. As the article confirms, DLAA once again takes the cake in terms of image quality. It is unsurpassed awesomeness that only nVidia can deliver. AMD peasants need not apply.

BTW, has anyone tried XeGTAO on nVidia? Is it better or worse looking than HBAO+?
I really don’t understand how we got to the point were consumers are ok in being limited to less options (forced ngreedia hardware due to locking proprietary tech) which clearly ends up affecting our pockets.

Back then, before the influencers took over the tech media, anything proprietary would automatically get a thumbs down.

I dont care that FSR is a lot worse (its not) given that it doesnt force me to buy only AMD gpus.
