GPU takes a while to initialize

Just built my system and wanted to check that this is normal. My average boot up time is around 30-45 seconds which i think is crazy but im wondering if there is something wrong? It seems my board gets stuck on the gpu led for about 7-10 seconds then it goes through everything fine.
Video to show you what i mean : Link

All new parts :
Motherboard Asrock z790 sonic
Gpu XFX 7900xtx
Nvme : kingston fury renegade

Stress tested everything and works perfectly fine. But as you can see from the video it just sits on the VGA led for a while. Also the fans spin really fast untill we get to the asork splash screen. Not sure if this is normal etc but its a new build so just really want to know if something is wrong
Thanks

It's more likely ddr5 memory training vs anything to do with your gpu.

Fully depower and reseat gpu/connectors?
gpu driver or software in need of reinstall or WU?

I'd poke around in BIOS for settings related to Windows. Fast boot, TPM, PCIe settings - all the tripping points since it looks like something is definitely a bit off during the boot sequence.

All been done, again stress tested it, been playing games for the last 2/3 days so i assume it just needs a new bios / driver updates next year when this problem is picked up, Also the video i posted was a long boot, today its gone down. Takes around 15-20 seconds.

I mean those are pretty normal boot times when you consider ddr5s new training requirements. How much ram do you have (how many sticks x what size?) Keep in mind even though the led says vga, that may not be the only thing the board is doing.

Doesn't seem anything wrong to me. Try running it with just the IGP and see how it boots.

Hardware Unboxed's 7900XTX review also mention the increased boot time with 7900XTX installed in the system, so just wait for a BIOS update I guess

I'd say you are on the long side of normal with that ran quantity but firmware updates will probably tame it soon. Early adopter stuff essentially.

thanks everyone for the help, seems the latest bios i downloaded shaved time off , not by much but helped, so i assume over time this will be fixed, overall very happy with the new system and luckily only need to boot up once a day :)

Help!

I have the same issue, long initialisation time (45 seconds) between power on and boot up BIOS screen with 7900XTX.

No such problem with my GTX 1080, it was very fast from cold start to bios boot up screen.

I have the latest BIOS and have tried to switch from UEFI to CSM, disable/enable fast boot and MSI fast boot, disable "above 4 gb ...something.. crypto mining (what is this??) and alot of other settings - no difference.

Hardware:

MSI Pro Z690-A Wifi DDR4, latest bios version: (7D25v1B)

i5 12600KF

Powercolor Hellhound 7900XTX

From AMD Adrenaline:

BIOS-version
022.001.002.009
BIOS-date
2022/11/21 04:35

Driverversion for AMD Windows
31.0.14057.2005

PSU: Seasonic Prime PX 1000, 1000W

Powercolor states on their homepage that they do not provide any bios-files (or updates?) due to voiding warranty if BIOS is changed.

If anyone can help I really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi!
For info, I did two things and now the boot initialization time is down to 20 seconds until BIOS-text apperas (before 45 seconds).
No 1: I installed a new update to AMD Adrenaline, version 25.3.2.
No 2: I entered my BIOS and selected to load the "Default settings", then selected to "Save and reboot".
After this the improvement from 45 seconds to 20 seconds was there.
(I then adjusted my bios settings regarding fan curve, selecting XMP for MB RAM, no MSI-logo while booting and left other things unchanged.)
I hope these two steps can help other with the same problem.
Please let me know.

I had that exact same problem for years. I just assumed that it was an ASRock thing but, one day, by pure chance, I discovered the problem, a problem that I NEVER would've expected. I had a glitchy SATA cable.

Change your SATA cables, they're dirt-cheap and it might fix the problem. I went from taking over a minute to boot to under 15 seconds. It's just one of those things that nobody ever thinks about and why would they? I had been using those same cables for over a decade without issue so I didn't even know that they could get glitchy. I actually removed a 2TB HDD because I thought it was dying. My rig would not boot if it was connected. I had assumed that it was the drive itself but it has functioned fine for several years since in a USB enclosure. Now I know for certain that it was the cable.

Hi! Thank you for your reply and input!
I have never ever thought of the SATA-cabels could be a problem. I will disconnect all of them and test if there is a difference. I run the OS on a M2-drive, so it´s an easy test to do.
Thanks!

Oh yeah, good old IDE... Setting the master and the slave jumpers....such fun!

You know what's funny? I have an LG DVD-RW 20X drive that still works and it's IDE. It's also the old white colour that optical drives had to match PC cases before PCs all became black.

I don't know how far back you go, but before IDE was a thing, there was MFM and then RLL... My first build had two 20MB MFM HDDs but I had an RLL controller which made them 40MB each. Back then, 80MB was considered almost god-like for a home PC.

Man, I'm OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDD!!!!

Just built my system and wanted to check that this is normal. My average boot up time is around 30-45 seconds which i think is crazy but im wondering if there is something wrong?
I know why, you use Autodesk Maya and you're engaging in license piracy. Then every time you boot, the license manager tries to fool the tax officer. So it makes booting take longer.

Anyway, software piracy make you boot slower
Gotta wait a few seconds if you're not paying those bucks.

I started in 1998, first pc Slot 1 Celeron 333, before that was using Apple II E and then 1995 Mac Power PCs. I know about the pizza size and sewer cover size hdd platters.

Also the VESA Bus, MCA, The Hercules Display Adapter, Dip Switch and jumper Overclocking
