The difference is, Rockstar has a "Blizzard-like" approach to things, meaning the game is done when it's done. This is a huge difference and means they can delay it further and further if the game isn't perfect, just release it when they feel like it and not launch a buggy game because of the winter market or to meet a launch date.

In the end , this makes me pretty confident that the game will not suck, aside from the fact that this is Rockstar and not some random company, their track record simply is great.
But GTA V both single player and online did suck at launch not 2042 or 2077 levels but enough to get people riled up and vocal about it. They cut the planned content releases for SP when online multi took off. It's track record isn't bad but it certainly isn't great either. They're just EA with a firm and relatively high bottomline.

That's certainly your opinion, I think most people liked SP of GTA V. I played through it two times, it was more than solid.

That certainly was not my opinion simple google search will show what kind of buggy mess it was because people couldn't play because the launcher/drm wasn't properly sorted. Save bugs, missions not completing these were eventually patched out. Saying something didn't happen or is an opinion simply because you didn't experience it is asinine. They aren't objectively a "when it's done" company as you claim and averse to "release now, fix later."

Uh not really. First played it on Xbox360 shortly after launch, no problems at all. Pleasurable experience. Then again on PC later, same story. This goes into the same bucket of exaggerated "buggy game" as what people said about CP77, which I also played without many problems and the few things that did happen, more funny than anything else. Nothing annoying.

Edit: I played CP77 on launch day on PC, yes, whole game finished, including side quests. Great game.

I don't know how people can still think the whole bug saga with CDPR was all exaggerated. Plenty just jumped in the frenzy, but the reason it was a frenzy in the first place was because it was in fact a very big game with a very inordinate amount of bugs and really just a lot gameplay implementation issues. The game was simply unfinished. I remember really enjoying the game at launch. I preordered hoping for the best but expecting the worst, so I got my money out of the ride. But it was one of those super-clunky rides where I had to take the game significantly less seriously and forgive how the serious tone it's trying to get off will be continually broken by visual bugs, and that I will be getting stuck on gameplay bugs.

I'll put it this way. By the time I got about halfway through the game, I KNEW things were gonna go badly. Just for the record, I've pulled up the first major patch listed. A good half of it are completion stoppers for quests. This one came in a time when people's saves were being corrupted by essentially being too big. And the PC saves still weren't salvageable after the fix. A bunch of PC players lost their saves just from playing the crap out of the early versions and probably using the seemingly uncountable number of farming/duping exploits in the game. And these were just things they were acknowledging at the time. Many others were known by the communities around the game. Many players were not satisfied with this at all and took to the comments below https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/news/37373/patch-1-1

I just don't know how anyone can look back on that launch and think it was good, sincerely. You can say you had fun, and maybe you managed to avoid the bulk of the really bad ones. But to look around and think all of the things going down were just in people's heads really throws me off... pretty much every time I see somebody say that. That launch was like... historically bad.

My opinion, i didn't like GTA 4 (boring main character, boring storylines, good open world exploring). GTA 5 (Worse main characters ever, boring stupid storylines, again good open world exploring).
Unless GTA 6 is GTA 3 part 2 with claude or vice city part 2 with tommy, think i will pass.

Storylines took a big dive after San Andreas, and seing as most of the money GTA5 made was on the online micro transactions I don't see it getting better now that they even acquired Zynga

their own botched Definitive remasters

I think the remasters were released exactly as intended, cheap and fast way to make a buck. They gave a little bit more headaches than expected but there's was no reason for them to exist in the first place, all 3 games were already available for the PS4 (and for PS5 as a consequence). A simple cash grab.

Clearly GTA 4 remains as the black sheep of the family, not being included in the remasters, not launching on PS4 and being hard to play on PC given the botched games for windows live thing

I'm betting for a Q4 2023 simultaneous release on last & current gen consoles (although since the goal is to significantly move beyond what previously delivered doesn't bode well for last gen but then again 180 million consoles is something that can't be easily ignored) and 1 year later for PC with Nvidia sponsored features support for "Ada Lovelace next" GPU launch (I bet monolithic also on 3nm TSMC, so 2026 for MCM design on 3nm+ TSMC or 2nm Samsung) and maybe simultaneously or one year later for a PS5 Pro (Q4 2024 launch?)

They better not release a cross gen tittle so late into the current generation cycle. I understand current games going cross gen, more so given the supply shortages on new consoles, but late 2023 is to late to still do that.

IV has the best story and it's the best of the series if you ask me. Also its Steam version works just fine these days as it's updated to not have that GFWL crap anymore.

In fact when I had it as physical copy, I always played without signing in to GFWL so it didn't even matter.

But not for PC, so there's to be made a point of it. It's not a "complete" cash grab.

I agree, especially multiplayer was extremely messy with multiple logins.

it has to be cross, PC only is so one dimensional and limited and can lead to problems later, like not enough players, etc

That's nice to know, I remember it being completely botched for way too long, never played it because of that.

I meant PS4/PS5 and Xbox older/newer (god damn xbox names!). The old consoles are really a bottleneck for any newer games going forward, we can already see that let alone in 2 years. They'll have a bit smaller player base initially but going by the numbers it's not like the PS5 or Xbox "newer" are moving slow, they just can't meet demand but they're selling a lot (PS5 specifically is even beating past sony records and on track to be the best selling console ever in a couple years)

I saw with GTA Online that crossplay is important, a lot of unnecessary wait times because "not enough players found", sometimes I had to try multiple times to find players to do a mission because I waited and nope. Crossplay is important. And of course the implementation has to be good. Generally they can improve GTA a lot, GTA Online is a mess with so called "modders".

Honestly, I used to be a much bigger fan of Rockstar until they decided to re-release the same game for 3 different console generations. The game is ancient at this point by gaming standards and it really shows. It was a great game when it released and even the first port was a nice update with new features and a small update to textures/the game in general. But his is way beyond what they should have done. I mean they have released one other game in the 9 years since this game came out.

Sorry, they don't have to release a game every year, but Jeez I expect more than 1 GTA every 10 years LOL.

IV has the best story and it's the best of the series if you ask me. Also its Steam version works just fine these days as it's updated to not have that GFWL crap anymore.

In fact when I had it as physical copy, I always played without signing in to GFWL so it didn't even matter.

Well actually gta 4 storylines wasn't too bad, but i didn't like the main character, i guess if i do buy it again i have to find a mod to replace him. I didn't like the main character in GTA SA, that's why i replaced him with Alonso harris from Training day lol. In GTA 5 which i bought and also got for free, i don't there's any way to replace all 3 main characters in the game, so i gave up with it. Can't stand them and the storylines is awful. And what is up with the character creation in GTA5? Its the worse i ever seen in a video game.

Thanks. And you didn't even have a point. You're literally just here to be the first three letters of your name and that's it. You're welcome for the E-rage btw.

Storylines took a big dive after San Andreas, and seing as most of the money GTA5 made was on the online micro transactions I don't see it getting better now that they even acquired Zynga

They better not release a cross gen tittle so late into the current generation cycle. I understand current games going cross gen, more so given the supply shortages on new consoles, but late 2023 is to late to still do that.
maybe it is too late, after all at the end of 2023 (in a best case scenario) we will have around 90 million PS5 & XBOXS-X/S installed base, then again at the same time we would probably have 3 prevalent graphics modes regarding PS5/XBOXS-X:
2160p 30fps no raytracing features
1440p 60fps no raytracing features
1080p 60fps raytracing features + reconstruction technics
and this translates well into the following:
XBOX-1X 1440p 30 fps
PS4 Pro 1250p 30fps
PS4 900p 30fps
XBOX-1S 720p 30fps
So unless they choose to fully utilize the SSD memory subsystem into their new core game engine dynamics the conversion is relatively normal for last gen machines (the graphics can be scaled down quite easily if they plan from start)

Are you talking about the remaster or the original game?
Original-ish (not remaster, I think the older ones were also a re-release of sorts, at least the ones I have on steam).

I said crossgen (different console generations), not crossplay (different platforms - xbox, playstation, pc)

maybe it is too late, after all at the end of 2023 (in a best case scenario) we will have around 90 million PS5 & XBOXS-X/S installed base, then again at the same time we would probably have 3 prevalent graphics modes regarding PS5/XBOXS-X:

That's WAY too over simplified. Things don't scale linearly like that and you're considering the lower end of what the PS5 can deliver when in reality the uplift is much bigger (even more with the SSD which of course they'll make use of).
