i recently remembered that HAGS exists.
back then i enabled it as soon as i installed windows. but now with an Ampere Card it does freeze basically every game i played (completely random... after 2 minutes or one hour)
just the screen freezes, Sound and input still works. i can normally alt tab out of it and look at it in the task manager (it is not listed as "not responding")
but it stays frozen until i close the game and restart it.

without HAGS everything works perfectly fine.

What if you turn it off, restart the PC and turn it on again, Restart PC, just because you got a new GPU.

Or just game without it.

i tested it over the last couple days including a fresh windows installation.
i don't need it (it does not give any performance benefits) i am just curious why it doesn't work with ampere.

Check task scheduler

I have a 30 series card (RTX 3070) use HAGS and can't say I've noticed anything bad. Just as a data point.

I've seen certain games that didn't like it, for a while wildlands and breakpoint would go mental if rebar or HAGS was enabled, until Nvidia patched it

I'd have to guess somethings up with the system breaking compatibility, or perhaps its exposing a previously hidden instability?
As always, BIOS updates ahoy capn, and try again!

It barely makes any difference to the performance anyway, better to turn it off in case of stability issues!

This feature was and always will be a mess. It only caused me stuttering.

Strange that I have no stuttering at all being on all the time.
WIndows 10 fully updated. RTX 2070 Super, latest driver.

3070, last time I used Windows my browser was a stuttery mess and it only ceased after I disabled HAGS.
Strange things lol, I had for a while that websites were flickering in google chrome browser, it took some time but they finally fixed it. (nvidia)

It's not an Ampere problem, it's just a HAGS problem.
If you don't use it, you probably wont notice anything anyway.
It's been working without any issues for me.
It has been an problematic for some games, or driver/hardware combinations.

This happens to me as well. I have multiple screens and when I run with it on my games act odd and any kind of 3d rendering on another screen or a video runs like absolute trash.

I just shut it off.

I've started getting a random stall at the very start of a warzone match but thats all. Not noticed any hitching or stuttering in games or in windows. 3090.

Hope you figure out the cause, even though you have a solution. It would be interesting to know why its happening on your config... :toast:

@Solaris17 - Ahh it sounds like the scheduler is malfunctioning. Glad it works for you after turning Hardware scheduling off.

I can confirm that this issue still exist on my machine.

It is a fresh install windows 11. My CPU does not have a dedicated GPU because it is an "f" series chip so it is probably a contributing factor.

So my screen would be completely frozen every time I alt + tab when playing game. I can't open up task manager nor anything. I can still hear and talk just fine only my monitor is not working.

This is also happen only when I was actually in a match. Queuing or launching game does not freeze my screen.

If anyone want to fix this issue, I don't have one but turning off H.A.G.S will solve it temporarily.
