Having issues trying to paste license code in Windows 11. Any help?

Hello. I can't copy paste my new Windows 11 license. I attach a picture of my problem. I tried: sfc/scannow, DISM, disabling my antivirus, scanning for malware, and all the things that i found in the web. Anyone with this issue? Appreciate for the help. Cheers.

Yeah, i finally did that, but... Why is the error happening in both of my PC's? I want it to work as it is...
Can you do me a favour and see if this happens to you too? Thanks!

I've tried copying just one character and the same happened...
In fact, i just press right click and boom... Error!

Don't worry then, just another bug.
The only time I had to enter a key was with W2K and it was pre-install.

Does it happen when you hit CTRL+V though?

Nope. Only when i right click.

Both, laptop and desktop, with the same issue. Maybe it's a service that i disabled. The rest of the system is running just fine...

I like to play some MAME, SEGA Model 3, Pinball Arcade and some games like A Plague Tale, AC Valhalla.

Maybe the new windows install got corrupted someway, perhaps try a reinstall.

Does this happens to you? Can you try copying a random number and paste it with right click? Thanks!

what if you ctrl+V to paste, some things aren’t bugs but there to prevent piracy ( no matter how dumb it sounds) you could also insert the key in the install media.

I tried a customer Windows 11 Laptop and works just fine. Maybe some tweak i did it to my computers??

Open a command prompt as administrator and type:

slmgr.vbs -upk
slmgr.vbs -ipk 12345-67890-ABCDE-FGHIJ (replace this with your product key)
slmgr.vbs -ato

First slmgr command will remove your Windows license, second command will install product key, third command will request an online activation.

This will require a genuine Windows product key, or that your machine ID is registered as entitled to use a given Windows edition through HWID on Microsoft's servers. If the latter is the case (and you'd know it is), then you may use one of the generic Windows installation keys provided by Microsoft.

I am using 22H2 on my main PC, but I have not run into the problem yet. I have my machine activated with a digital license tied to my MSFT account, so it tends to just activate by itself once I login. If you are running into this with a fresh install, try activating before you install any cumulative updates. If it still persists, you might need to contact Microsoft. They are pretty useful when it comes to this.

@ThrashZone I don't know why are you laughing, but ok. I replicate the error to see if it happens in a fresh installation and it did. I'm letting it be. I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft. I tried several Virtual Machines and a couple of fresh installations and it continued to happen. I can type and i can ctrl+v. The error happened when i press right click and i hover over the ctrl+v "sign". That's it, i'm done! Thanks.

I finally fixed it. I ran a VM and i did the tweaks i usually do and i found that the "speed up shutdown" was, idk, messing with something. It changes the values of waittokillapptimeout, autoendtasks and others. I export a clean part of the registry (the one that have these keys and values) and then i imported it in my two PCs and voila! Problem solved. Weird thing, this reg hack works in any version of W10.
