Hi all, I have asus ati 2400 mobile, 128mb ddr2, 64bit, default clocks gpu:450, mem:400 and now i'm on gpu:567 and mem: 567 too.

I just have few issues/questions:
1. why overclocking works only on amd gpu overclocking? when I try to overclock on atitool, I move slider up, and press apply, but it returns back to default clock position, on ati tray tool same thing.
2. why I can't dump my video bios? ati tool, says: Could not load bios from card.
3. ati power play states look a bit weird:

4. what is UVD?
Thank you!

1) You need to have powerplay enabled for Atitool 0.27 b3 to work. Make sure it is set to "maximum performance" or you'll get a complete system hang. Also, after clocking with ATITool powerplay won't do anything anymore, so switching it back to maximum battery is not gonna downclock your GPU until you don't restart the pc.

2) I don't know why, but this happens on my Card too (HD2600 Mobility), I suppose it's some kind of safety lock by the manufacturers?

3)Indeed, though I don't know how they look on mine with this analyzing tool (is it Sandra?)

4) UVD= Unified Video Decoder (I think), basically it stands for the Enginge that handles Hardware-based decoding of H264 and VC-1 stuff; I believe it also partially accelerates MPEG 2.

Now a question from my side: Which AMDGPUClocktool do you use? It kind of looks diffrent to mine, I have nothing that indicates my Bus Speed or UVD-Status. Mind sharing that file? :toast:

Edit: Just seen there is the new Version up on TPU. Seems to be a lot more stable and it also shows me what it shows on your image. I just wonder why is PCI-E always on 16x? I thought that those energy-saving thingies should turn that down to 1x or something like that if not needed (can't think of aereo needing the full 16x?)

Omg for your answers! I use 0.98 version, here you go: http://www.majorgeeks.com/AMD_GPU_Clock_Tool_d5989.html
ok, I've disabled ati automatic clock switching in ati tool, but anyway slider comes back to its default. BTW, I use everest. BTW2 linux has a command that lists all powerplay states, so when I enter it it says that powerplay isn't supported on my hardware, that seems weird.

Woah! That's sick for a Mobility 2400! It almost reaches my 2600 at standard clocks! Nice work! :respect:

Check out this, I highly doubt anyone can beat this score.. I have a Ati mobility hd2600 using whql/fm approved drivers. I got 9557 or something using windows vista, my score is like 2500 points higher than the next ones..

I'm sure if i used vista and followed this http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21678
I;d break the 10 000 mark easily. But for now im very happy with this result because it beats out alot of great cards at stock speeds. and the laptop cost less than 850..809 cad..runs crysis all high with ssao turned off ...and object detail too low..but with a tweak i can play it very high in native rez 1280x800 and have it looking veryhigh(cheap veryhigh :p)..

heres my score http://service.futuremark.com/resultComparison.action?compareResultId=4455459&compareResultType=12

heres the main page
http://service.futuremark.com/searc...ingsystem_displayed_=All&operatingsystem=-100

curious if anyone has come close to this or even tried. been googling like a mad man and its harder finding results about 8000 than it is finding the holy grail.. anyways thanks for checking it out any advice would be apprieciated

quote 'it can't be so, you can't get 6fps from cpu test' .

What do you mean, what are you talking about? Also my score is always about 6fps on the cpu test, even stock...also its 3dmark05 not 06..on 06 i get about 0.75fps ..My is the bottleneck when i overclock my hd2600 that high. Im going to overclock cpu and ram and post results over 10 000 for sure..but as for getting cool temperatures i highly doubt it will be under 80c like the first tests...

Also how does my score of 9557 and 9400 compare to other graphics cards...i got a budget notebook for less than 850 cad. and 9557 seems pretty low. I wonder what the 8800mgts gets stock for 3dmark05..

BTW i only care about 3dmark05 because it is default. 06 doesnt use defualt and i cant post the setting on 3dmark..resolution is diff.

ps nohomo...your cpu score in 06 3dmark is higher than mine lol....u musta been kidding about my score..can u help me get better results?

also cAN SOMEONE GIVE ME INPUT ON MY SCORE???

I have an ATI Mobility HD2600 256 DDR2 on my (first, previously I onlu had desktops) laptop (TOSHIBA SATELLITE A200-1QK, bought almost a year ago). What kind of OC do you think I can get in a safe manner? There's people here getting to 700MHz it scares me a bit to go from 500MHz to 700MHz (I've never seen such a big increase on a desktop card).

So what are the values that I can reach safely?

P.S.: My System Specs:

Processor:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
Motherboard:
Intel PM965 Chipset
Memmory:
2x1GB DDR2-667MHz
Graphics Card:
AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 256MB DDR2 + 768MB HyperMemory (Core: 500MHz | Memory: 400MHz)
Hard Drive:
Hitachi 250GB 4200RPM SATA
Sound Card:
Realtek HD (Onboard)

I have a problem with overclocking my mobility hd 2400 card.
The thing is AtiTool nor AMD gpu clock tool do not change anything I am trying to tweak. As soon as I press the set clock button everything refreshes back to default. I turned on powerplay, but it does not help? any guesses?
BTW, I had vista and i replaced it with XP and installed lates drivers for my card using DH Mobility Modder.

@JrRacinFan,

Rivatuner didnt give me any posobility to edit overclocking options, it said my card does not support overclocking, while guy above me managed to overclock it.

What drivers are you on? Have you tried AMDGPUClocktool v0.7?

I tried AMDgpu tool, thought I dont know what version it was. I think last one,cuz i downloaded it here.
My drivers are 6.14.10.6891, with catalyst 8.12

Yup, that is the problem. Since 8.12 (or even 8.10 and 8.11; don't know I skipped those) ATITool and AMDGPUClocktool v0.9.8 don't work anymore (I always said that they did something diffrent in overclocking than v 0.7 of AMDGpuclocktool, but I never got any feedback)...

Anyhow, long story short, AMDGPUClocktool 0.7 will make you, at least partially, happy. It is very unstable though, so give it some time to let the GPU recover if you get a black screen. In usually 99% of cases it recovers your gpu in a few minutes and you can try overclocking again without getting a full system-crash.

Thank you for your help and some useful to know info.
Hmm...what about downgrading to catalyst 8.9 or something?

You could try that; if I recall correctly it worked on it with either the new AMDGPUClocktool or Atitool.

I always preferred the old AMD-Tool though, because that wouldn't mess with my Powerplay settings. Using ati-tool or the new AMD-Tool i got ~10°C higher GPU-Temps, which can't be good.

Don't let yourself be intimidated by a blackscreen or 2, it usually really works in the end and gives me better results (I can got to 558mhz on the ram, as opposed to max. 540 I could with ATItool, before artifacting)

Best thing would be disableing Powerplay alltogether when overclocking or at least set it to max performace; or you are bound to get a unrecoverable system crash (not enough juice for the GPU and whatnot :) )

Hope this helps and good luck overclocking the sucker :toast:

Edit: Oh, and I personally love the 8.12 because the driver itself seems to be faster than 8.9 and more stable (it also remembers every settings of AVIVO, which 8.9 does not when I set my pc to hibernation)

8.10 and amd gpu tool worked for me, bot 8.11 and 8.12 didn't. but I've edited bios powerplay states, so now I don't need any tools
