No I'm going to use what Nvida does, which is like Super AA.

I just want to know if the ATi or Nvidia card is better when using it.

I was only j/king :), But wouldn't extra memory of the nvidia cards help with AA/AF or does actual memory bandwidth help more with that ?, and 32X wow thats impressive, jelle mees made a thread today similar to what your asking now, but i only quickly glanced at it.

I could run some maps with SLi 8800Gt at 700Mhz 4.0Ghz on the CPU and run smooth. Bigger maps ran a little choppy.

I'm hope with the 9800GTX this problem will not happen, and I could play the bigger maps with it turned on.

Lol sweet, i only said about the GTX+ because i thought it could have achieved higher clocks due to 55nm vs 65 nm but still very cool :).

No unfortunatley nor I or anyone I've come across has tested it whether new ATi or Nvidia cards.

Which is a shame, because in some more recent games, supersampling can put a heavy taxation on the GPU.

AOC and Crysis come to mind. However the visual payoff can be wonderful. It helps smooth out the gaps in things like tree leaves, making them less of an eye sore both metaphorically and physically. Ever run around in Crysis and trees are way too crisp and make your eyes go funny, or in AOC when at a distance trees look like something out of a Bob Ross painting?


Come to think of it, I've never once seen supersampling or any level of transparency anti-aliasing mentioned in a GPU review. It's unfortunate how lame benchmarks have become, using the same old generic setups/features, and never REALLY taxing the cards.

I feel the same way, and I bet tons of people just turn them all on without knowing what the settings do.

I just did kind sir! 1920x1200 with 24x AA with adaptive(transparent) AA set to max along with 16 AF, on top of HDR and everything set to max and on cept character shadows (it makes talking to people look stupid).

Everything is perrrrdy.

Was playing UT3 a bit ago with AA and AF on too maxed out... OH OH Crysis also at 1920x1200 with 2x AA with settings on high for DX9 (not saying much I guess). Crysis though was just above playability though, not completely smooth. Probably hovering between 20-30fps.
