If there's no obvious way to do it with the controller itself, the best way to ensure they stopped would be to snip all the LEDs out if they're traditional. If they're flush-mounted to the PCB, would be more complicated.

Is yours silver or black?

If black, cover 'em with a strip of electrical tape. That way you can resell it in the future.

i agree with what dd said, i cant stand bright ass led's myself and the way i eliminate them is completely removing them. either cutting them right out or severing the power to them will work, that is if it's easily accessible. if they are in the pcb like mentioned above it's not worth tryin it.

edit: after thought, if they are mounted in the pcb you could try a thick coating of paint or something that would block or hinder the light (little pieces of cardboard superglued over them). be creative when modding.

I've gotten sick of too many LEDs myself. I've been doing a lot to eliminate them from my rig, since sleeping with the computer on can be irritating if it's lit up like a Christmas tree.

yes exactly i sleep like 10 feet from my pc, don't like all the bright ass leds, anytime i get something with an led i ussually cut and remove. luckily nothing in my rig now has led's but my fan controller, but they arent that bright (i also have the front of my case pointing in the corner).

Solder them of the PCB? Be careful however, so not the PCB gets any damage. Do not know if this will have any impact if the fan controller can operate without them.

de-solder them you mean?

You know, it's much more convenient if you buy (or trade for) ones that don't have LED.

if you can remove the frontplate, try putting some black tape over the leds

I'm tired of so many LEDs too especially colored ones (blue I'm looking at you). Now I just have a couple white ones here and there for nice but more subtle effect (black case with almost all black components plus black and white fans).

You could.... Give it to me and buy one that doesnt have LEDs? = PROFIT!

this may be a simple method but have you tried just sticking a peice of paper over them?
