DX11 gaming performance still sucks ass even after improvements.

But at least the still images are pretty.

Sent From My Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580

Lol I spend at least half my time in DX11 and it doesn't suck ass.

Just FYI, AMD's gaming division operates at 16% margin (in their latest financial report), they're not ripping people off.

i haven't experienced any issues with amd drivers for over a year now

Adrenalin 24.1.1 seems good ATM. Even on 11 23H2, I have yet to get the dreaded "Adrenalin unexpected failure on every boot" bug.

IIRC, there's posts going around telling us that we have to disable Copilot with Vivetool, or Adrenalin reports an unexpected failure on every boot.
i disabled co pilot befre i d/l 23h2

I tried to mass LQ a whole bunch of posts that were about RTX and RT. Too many for forum software to handle - and I don't have time to individually LQ them.

The OP asked about the quality of AMD drivers. They came from a 3090, they don't need to be told about Nvidia. Stay on topic or get warning points.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I stopped by Micro Center today and picked up a Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Pulse. Hopefully the drivers work well and I'll be happy. I'm looking forward to improved 4K performance.

While I was there I also picked up:

7800X3D
be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 (First air cooler in over 15+ years)
Asrock X670E Pro
G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 32GB

So I went all in on AMD. God have mercy on me.

Did you get the 7800X3D for $358? Newegg has them on sale atm.

$349.99 at Micro Center.

that's a good deal

my 5600x3d and 7900 xt has been rock solid for me

i never use mobo drivers though, i just go straight to amd, download latest chipset, then latest gpu, reboot and done

if it were me i'd prob disable integrated graphics in the mobo, turn on expo and a mild undervolt on both cpu and gpu

i just did a -70 heavy undervolt on my 7900 xt and gained 30 fps in FFXIV :)

I've been running this new system for most of the day. So far everything has been solid except for the game Enshrouded. I keep getting partial black screens while playing. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

EDIT/
Turns out it's an issue with the game itself. Turning FSR2 on fixes the problem.

I played the demo for that game during next fest or w.e it was called, it ran like shit on my 7900 XT, I don't remember any blackouts, but I remember it being so all over the place with FPS I decided to pass on that game. The concept of the game sounds awesome though, it's still on my wish list, perhaps after the inevitable 100 patches I will get it someday. My backlog is vast, so I am in no rush.

Also, make sure to download GPU-Z and check to make sure REBAR shows enabled. Some BIOS mobo's don't have it enabled by default, and you really should enable it on an all AMD system.

Enshrouded is awesome. I am a fan of Valheim and this is Valheim x100. The game ran perfectly on my Intel/3090 system but I couldn't get good FPS maxed out at 4k. (50 fps best with the old system and a mix of medium, high, and ultra settings using DLSS)

I'm now getting a solid 60-70+ with the AMD system with everything maxed out, but I have to run FSR2 to avoid that flickering black screen. The game looks so much better now though.

REBAR is enabled.
