how high can gpu prices go..

incidentally the ready built PC i picked up for £1750 whilst looking at 3080 ebay prices is now priced at £2350.. its due for delivery tomorrow.. the seller seems to have caught up with the price curve.. :)

ps.. people are not just buying these things to mine they are buying them to resell at a profit.. anybody lucky enough to get their hands on one at anywhere near the rrp would be silly not to..

i paid a month old scalper price of £1045 for one.. i dont need the cash else for sure it would go straight on ebay .. a quick £700 or £800 profit would be hard to resist for most people..

i have paid a total of £2800 for one complete gaming machine and one 3080 gpu.. if i so wished i could bung both cards on ebay for the going £1750 quid each.. make a profit of £700 quid and get a free PC thrown in..
Do it, I've learned to not hold on to computer parts too long.

things are getting worse and prices are getting higher..
this week ive witnessed it get even worse than it has been. i have a feeling prices will rise more, if supply doesnt ramp up.

Hi,
I'd rather keep stuff for paperweights than nearly give it away.

i just looked at the UK scan website for nvidia gpus.. they dont have any available to buy.. a 3080 is around £1900 on UK ebay and a 3060ti around £950..

i dont see anything coming thats gonna change thing for the better.. price wise things dont look good..

it will be interesting seeing what the soon coming mining gimped 3060 ends up selling for..

that scans listed online retailer inventory , right?

You got to give Nvidia credit, they used to Dry launch with no product now they just launch and know it will sell even if its a "potato"

are you trying to buy a 3090?
I am, but not at those prices.

Would pay msrp for used though... I am in that level of desperation. Currently in EVGAs waitlist system.

Hell just sit back watch Linus tech and the others get there sweet new Nvidia/AMD cards to test and we will just have to wait for a used up piece of shit from China that has a life span of 2 games then it dies or is Bricked from the gate.
Any way you look at it we will all sit back watch the Videos Linus tech and others that SHILL for the big tech companies produce then post on TPU about how WE can not get one or how the prices are higher than a use fucking car! WTF! Yeah sit back click on the youtubers that have the SHILL hookup and that is all we get!
No availability cost so much you can not even afford it ,rent ,bills, or food.
It is called a big:
Because big tech does NOT care about YOU the consumer!

This is insane. My $325 MSI Gaming X 5700 XT is now selling on Amazon for $1500!

This is NOT sustainable.

I'm glad I've been able to put my hand on a system with a RTX 2060 SUPER for 1.1k$ CDN, when just the video card is like 800$ MINIMUM AND USED. There's no stock anywhere for BRAND NEW gpus.
I realised the only way to have new stuff, is by buying a full system. I usually build my own computers, still sad that I didn't have the chance to, but you know, better than nothing.

Kind of crazy to think the retail price of a RTX 3060 Ti is 600$...

Oh, just found a RTX 2060 for 700$ at bestbuy!

Really the bottom line here is that Bitcoin is here and here to stay. It will eventually overtake the almighty dollar and for that to happen our economy has to go south first.

As long as it doesn't affect the enterprise side of things, I mean, a server CPU is still not too pricey, etc...
Else, this may have a grave impact on IT modernisation of companies, industries, etc... Gov will really need to do something about that if it were to happen.

Currently, it primarly impact us, the consumer and enthusiast of tech, which is why government doesn't do anything I guess, as miners are consumers too, scalpers are consumers too. But government will probably act on scalpers because it's untaxed revenue lol.

Just thought about the fact that it would cost less to buy a whole server for virtualisation, then a high-end GPU at those prices lol.

Not going to happen EVER! at least in my life time I will NOT let that happen! Socialism and communism are NOT going to TAKE my LIFE or COUNTRY!
Not going to get into it to many variables. This is stuff that big tech companies and rich asshole have done to get even richer! It's something that should be taken away!

BTC was not created by the rich or for the rich. Sorta the exact opposite in the sense of big finance. It could well happen in your lifetime. IF we keep printing money the way we are, pushing wages, social handouts and the like all of which devalues the dollar. It could happen. I mean I don't know how old your are so if you are like 70+ then yeah probably not in your lifetime. haha.

I can tell you this if EVERONE united as a real team and froze all buying of any tech crap and use of social media for 5 years it would change shit! FAST!

Wouldn't even take that long. Look at GME. You just need to convince 2m+ people to do this.

Not hard to do with the mindless asshat people of today. You can pretty much get anyone today to fall for anything people have become really really stupid!

Sounds like you need to unplug, man; get some R&R. Drink a cold one, have a cup of tea, watch a sunset, walk the dog. This is all a bummer, but no one's losing their home because they can't buy a GPU at MSRP. Unless they're spending three months' rent on one. But I think we can all agree that's just silly.

gpus aside there is a world wide shortage of "chips" the car industry is being hit big time because of this.. i just read today one big name UK car producer is shutting down its night shift because of a shortage of parts.. covid has f-cked up the worlds supply chains.. i knew it would but i expected it to happen sooner..

stuff is made from bits and pieces sourced from all over the world.. this stuff all has to come together at the right time in the right place to get assembled into a finished product.. when supply chains get f-cked up none of this happens.. stuff cant get made.. anything that does get made will go up drastically in price..

That's exactly right. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner as well... One of the primary functions of COVID to be perfectly honest. Kill the supply chains. And yeah, it's not just GPUs that are in short demand. Take a look at the price of 10' 2 x 4 next time you are at the hardware store.

So true.
I think we all need to step back and see how one thing that could have been prevented messed up the ENTIRE WORLD! Hiding from this fact has also made it harder to move forward.
Like fuel energy that is now going up why?
Power bills are going up why?
Greed and avarice from one place has done all this!
