how high can gpu prices go..

eBay RTX3090 price is slowly rising up to $2500 ~ $2700.

This is just nuts.
the ebay price going up to me means the supply is diminishing.. it could mean the demand is increasing but at these kind of prices demand going up is hard to grasp..

what are you guys complaining about, pcgamesn just linked a killer 1080p gaming rig build for 2021 for $600...although I think he forgot to link the MiR for the gpu

The iBuyPower prebuilt that they link is okay priced at $700, considering the 5500XT is $500 these days on its own. 5500XT is equivalent to a 1060, overall certainly a shame to pay $500 for 2016 midrange performance.

I find it hilarious that the GPU they link in their $600 build is $699 and before anyone states it's just auto links (obviously) someone at that site had to change the year on the title from 2020 to 2021. You think they can glance over the price links when they do that.

current prices:
3060 Ti = 750-850€
3070 = 1000-1300€
3080 = 1800-2000€
3090 = 2500-3250€

ridiculous..

And this is going to happen with every release going forward. Now that scalpers know they can make so much money, they will do this every time.

Way too high but here some prices from my ~low tier mid EU country.
This is with the added 27% VAT in my country + whatever else they put on it.

Retailer brand new:

3070 ~ 1880 $
6800 XT ~ 1950 $
6900 XT ~ 2740 $

Second hand but brand new 'scalper' prices:

3070 ~ 1170 $
3080 ~ 2180 $
3090 ~ 2800 $
6800 XT ~ 1500 $
6900 XT ~ 1950 $

Funny that the scalper prices are actually better than retail.

And for some low end-mid range cards on the second hand market:

RX 480-570 4GB ~ 130-150 $
RX 570-580 8GB ~ 370 $ but some goes for more.
5600 XT ~ 650 $
RTX 2060 ~ 570 $

And the list goes on with similar crazyness.

Also for reference the minimal-average wage in my country is between 500-670 $. 'Factory workers, shop workers and whatnot basically most of the ppl'

So ye I aint buying anything for a long time probably.

this has nothing to do with scalpers its simply how free market supply and demand works.. ebay does make a good real price discovery mechanism..

it definitely has something to do with scalpers, & miners. they are both groups of people who have a vested interest & profit in purchasing inventory, interest enough to spend more time , money or effort than the average guy to find the inventory they want. there would still be a shortage currently if scalpers & miners were entirely removed, but we wouldnt have massively increased 3rd party seller prices. what a lot of people dont realize, is that there are ways to buy inventory before it is listed in online retailer inventory. i know because i do it.

They'll go as high as demand pushes them, same as any other product.

i just looked on ebay UK.. used 1080tis are going for around £500 to £600 quid.. so much for that..

The 1080p in the article was the resolution to be gamed at. The built system they mention for 600 is intel I3 and AMD 5500X I think. The was no mention of the 1080TI. Just figured id help you understand the article. What the plan for 2x 3080? You have allot of gaming for 3K you have in GPU's. Might have to hire some kids to game on them, to help utilize them and keep them from getting dusty!!

Damn. Prices are crazy and yet I bought the 6900xt for the price of 3070. A lot but still not bad if you consider 3070 vs 6900xt.

Why do people even use scammer sites like ebay...

My Predicition:
3060 ti - 1k up to 1.2k
3070 ti - 1.5k up to 2k
3080 - 1.8k up to 2.2k
3090 - 2.6k up to 3.5k

Prices in euro. In my country from legitimate stores you can get 3090 starting from 2.6k euro :(.

Will be without computer for a while, nothing bad. Will get next gen ngreedia or ghost amd.

The prices will go up as much as demand does. It's simple math friend!

TBH I wouldn't give a squirt of piss to either manufacture for their cards. Your best bet is to hang tight and chill and ride the train till it stops.

I WONT let some scalpers line their pockets with MY MONEY!! They need to be shot and pissed on.. Forgive me, for saying that but that's how I feel..

WORLD GREED!

This just makes me want to buy a console more and more every week :wtf:

As high as people are willing to pay.... Story of how I might become a scalper. I wanted to buy 3070/3080 FE from Nvidia but every time I was too slow (i dont use bots or anything just get a discord alert when one comes in stock). I did manage to get a 3090 at MSRP (1550 euro). Posted it on local tech and ad-site as "CARD NOT FOR SALE - WANT TO TRADE TO 3070/3080 WITH MRSP-MSRP PAYMENT". After couple of guys saying I will give you 3080 +400 or 3070+500 euros which I flat out ignored, people started bidding on it anyway and I see someone already offers me 2250 euros for it. So now I might sale it anyway and watercool my shitty zotac 3070 instead or just pocket the profit since I this is overkill for me. I didn't choose the scalper life, the scalper life chose me

3080 - lowest €1165, highest €1375, 25 models, none in stock
3090 - lowest €1890, highest €2595, 24 models, none in stock
RX 6800 - lowest €1320, highest €1365, 2 models, both in stock
RX 6800 XT - lowest €1365, highest €1450, 5 models, 2 in stock
RX 6900 XT - lowest €1450, highest €1670, 9 models, 4 in stock (€1515, two for €1585, €1670)

I'm guessing it might have something to do with the Chinese new year now as nothing is getting shipped? Over in Scan they are receiving literally no stock at all which is not going to help with anything. the prices are going to go nuts even more so and Ebay and such I feel won't help this at all... It's not a great situation to be in :(

Amazing that there's any stock for any cards there, especially the AMD ones

Well thing is, that RX 6800 for €1365 costs as much as you'd have to pay for 6900 XT a month ago.

I can get an MSI Ventus 3X RTX 3090 for as "little" as $1790...
Not seen any 3080's in stock for over a week, except that one card yesterday that was sold 30 seconds later.
3070's comes and goes, usually available for under $680.
The only 3060Ti's I saw was listed for as much as the 3070's.
Not seen any AMD cards in stock for over a month.
All the larger e-tailers have zero stock of anything over a GTX 1650Ti...

Edit: Oh, hang on there, there's an MSI RX 6900XT Gaming Trio in stock, for $1,310.

(1) nVidia 3090 for (1) bitcoin sounds like the trajectory we are heading because a single 3090 is capable of mining multiple bitcoin over several months other fairycoin currencies not withstanding.

I'm waiting for the time when 99% of people ditch their current jobs and just mine fake virtual currencies and the world just collapses from this idiocy. We are literally burning the worlds compute/energy resources on arbitrary algorithms that do FUCKING NOTHING OF VALUE, no science, no research, no calculation of digits of pi nothing, absolutely nothing of actual value to society beyond our mutual collective agreement of perceived value.

I'm going to start a new coin based on life saving penicillin, 1 penicilicoin can be earned by taking 1 liter of penicillin and pouring it down the drain (the same way we throw energy down the drain). The value of the penicillicoin goes up as the supply of penicillin around the world goes down, as miners literally create an real world scarcity. Instead of an energy wasting blockchain, just video yourself destroying this valuable drug, the video is uploaded as a distributed torrent where other penicillicoin dumpers verify the quantity destroyed using captcha-type distributed confirmation thus hyperinflating the price of penicillin around the world thus giving monetary value to the coin. If millions of people can agree this currency is valid, then it carries the same validity of any blockchain currency whereby you aren't mining, you are dumping a real world resource for virtual coins.

Of course I'd then start epicoin (using epipens), and cancercoin (for cancer medication). Covicoin19 would be a nice idea in theory.
