I'm not a collector in the least, but over time I've come to own a decent amount of these inedible sweets.
Not all of them are in the photo....excluding the processors that are currently installed in computers, I'd say there's around 20 in total. Mostly LGA775 dual cores and quite a few Xeons.
Anyone else got CPU stashes?

Huh. Didn't think I'd come across something like this. I've got a few always lying around and a few more in inactive computers. I put them in a container and anchor my curtains with it at night, lol. Even after wilfully dismantling a bunch of P4s for shits and giggles, there are still too many LGA775s.

IMG_20200226_220845.jpg

I don't care much for most of them, but the Klamath P2 will always be in that box. Nothing feels as hefty, solid, and satisfying as a Slot 1 cartridge.

Here's my CPU stash. Some are old, some aren't. Got them in little cases I printed.

They've been sitting on my desk for a while, so they're a bit dusty.

Been thinking about putting the G4560 back in my laptop, but not sure if the better single threaded is worth the worse multi.

I have a lot of 939 CPUS more than ten. These processors are currently being used to look at data errors. The project goes back more than 4 years & is still LIVE.

It's looking at what is the cause of 4 DIMMS with CL1.5 & 1T CMD. I've just started looking at undervolt errors too, what type of fault & it's location.

I can confirm CL1.5 & 1T CMD with 4 DIMMS can & will be fixed, but it will be a long time before it's fully up to speed.
I do have an old screenshot with 4 DIMMS 1T CMD "CL2" in operation but it's only @133MHz.

I know the problems & I know how to fix them, but it's going to take a long time.

I had dozens too, also going back to 8088s, 286s, 386, etc. But 2 years ago I took them to a local electronics recycling center, along with a bunch of obsolete RAM. My goal was to (1) clean out my store room and (2) have them properly recycled to keep the hazardous waste out of our landfills. I'm not a tree-hugger. Too lazy. But if something is easy to do, I will do it for my grandkids' future Earth. I was cleaning out my store room anyway, so lugging them out to the recycling center was just as easy as lugging them out to the city dump.

To my surprise, the recycling center paid me money for the precious metals they contained. I got $80 total but that included a few bucks for the copper, steel and aluminum in old PSUs, computer cases and cables.

BTW, they also shredded my old hard drives. Pretty sure no bad guy can glean any data from them. ;)

Those old AMD chips reminded me....I actually haven't owned a single AMD processor in the last 10 years. Definitely would upgrade to Ryzen though.

I have every processor I ever Bought, with mobo in most cases, since my first 8088-1. ( an 11 mhz 8088, thus the 4.77MHz switch, lol.) At the latest, it also had a 8087-1.

Exceptions are the 386SX and 486SX I ended up with in trades. I sold those like a bad case of Clap. :)

I have weird processors, like a set of 8088, 8087, and 8089 processors on a weird non- PC mobo, that was made by CPT. ( Cassette Personal Typewriter, a co that added mail merge to IBM selectrics)

Maybe 50-70 processors total, in X86.

The 2nd oldest I have is in my avatar, my 2nd computer chip.
AMD 4x86.

My 1st computer chip looks like this:
Still have it in the machine.

Certainly do not have every one I've ever bought, and glad of it!

Less than 50 right now.

Hey, wait; I thought we were talking Real chips, X86.

I have chips back to 4004, 6502, 6805E, 8051's, 8748, 8065, 68008, 68010, 68020; there are a bunch.

8748 chips are really cool; they have UV erasable Eprom, the ones I have were keyboard decoders.
They can do a lot more than that... :)

I'll post some pics later, once I get to my workshop.
I do PC/Laptop repair, so at any given time I'm trying to keep at least one test CPU from both Intel and AMD dating at least 3-4 sockets back (similar for laptops, but BGA makes things a bit more complicated :banghead: ).
The only few things I'm currently missing in my collection, are LGA1156 and LGA1155 processors. For a latter platform I did have an i5-2500(non-K), G1620 and a G530, but all of them recently went out to my friends as emergency replacements. Also, recently sold my sFM1 spare, cause dude needed a full combo for his oversized grandma nettop. Gotta get some spares now. I'm keeping my eye on 3rd gen i7, cause they are getting cheaper by the day, but I'll have to downsize my AMD collection to only sFM2, sAM3 and sAM4. I may also get a broken chinese LGA2011 board with a full complimentary combo, which includes a retail Xeon E5-2620 and 16GB DDR3 ECC RAM. The board is going immediately on my "Wall of Shame", while I'm gonna try and fix some supermicro boards that have been gathering dust in the corner for some time.
Oh, almost forgot that I don't have anything for LGA2011v3 as well. I have an MSI x99s MPower board which needs some fixin', but no CPU to test it afterwards. There are some cheap Xeon E5 v3's on Aliexpress (supposedly a normal retail, non-ES/QS for $20 or so), but I wanna go all-in and get me a proper i7-5960X for that one.

I have a Pentium MMX 233, a Pentium 4 (in an old prebuilt), a couple of Core 2 Duos (same), a Xeon E5-1650 v2 and a Xeon E5-2620 v3. Also a Ryzen 1800X, though I don't know if that counts as "old" yet. I did have a few more Xeons and some Phenom IIs, but I sold them on. I do like old hardware, but I have to stop myself buying it as it really only sits around cluttering up the place.
