Hi

The last month i face a serious problem.

My pc has very often huge audio dropouts.
Sometimes also the system crashes and-or restarts

I used latencymon and dpclat to identify the problem. The strange is that in dpclat i see the big red values which indicate my problem but in latencymon i don't see any important issue.
In dpclat i get the message ''Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc.''

I installed the latest amd chipset drivers, gpu drivers,Rme(audio) drivers. My pc is ''tuned'' for audio.

I also saw in event viewer and reliability monitor the following errors(among others-i find that those are the most mportant) :

--LiveKernelEvent Code: 141 Parameter 1: ffffcf86d6fee010 Parameter 2: fffff805774bc188 Parameter 3: 0 Parameter 4: 29c4 OS version: 10_0_19044 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 OS Version: 10.0.19044.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 107.30
Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 4.189922

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 104.80
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 2.422007

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED ISRs
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Interrupt service routines are routines installed by the OS and device drivers that execute in response to a hardware interrupt signal.

Highest ISR routine execution time (µs): 35.124703
Driver with highest ISR routine execution time: dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel, Microsoft Corporation

Highest reported total ISR routine time (%): 0.000150

REPORTED DPCs
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
DPC routines are part of the interrupt servicing dispatch mechanism and disable the possibility for a process to utilize the CPU while it is interrupted until the DPC has finished execution.

Highest DPC routine execution time (µs): 150.136567
Driver with highest DPC routine execution time: ntoskrnl.exe - NT Kernel & System, Microsoft Corporation

Highest reported total DPC routine time (%): 0.001710

DPC count (execution time >=4000 µs): 0

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED HARD PAGEFAULTS
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hard pagefaults are events that get triggered by making use of virtual memory that is not resident in RAM but backed by a memory mapped file on disk. The process of resolving the hard pagefault requires reading in the memory from disk while the process is interrupted and blocked from execution.

NOTE: some processes were hit by hard pagefaults. If these were programs producing audio, they are likely to interrupt the audio stream resulting in dropouts, clicks and pops. Check the Processes tab to see which programs were hit.

Process with highest pagefault count: explorer.exe

Total number of hard pagefaults 15
Hard pagefault count of hardest hit process: 6
Number of processes hit: 4

dpclat the very old program? It does not work well for Window 10/11

First verify if your PC can pass the CPU/RAM tests

If it pass the tests, use this CMD file to check and fix the File System and Operational System Integrity.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jMMK8ivyfBZH9JEmRnxvagKcwwVYXA_w/view?usp=sharing
Run it as admin, it is from Windows 11 Tweaks, Fixes and Modifications [Overview]

Make sure the motherboard BIOS is updated.

Disable Core Isolation and Memory Integrity

Disable Hibernate

It is Nvidia GPU?
Enable MSI(Message Signaled-Based Interrupts)

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/ans...ent-mode-from-adaptive-to-maximum-performance

It is AMD GPU?
Disable Crash Defender Service, use https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns
Go to Autoruns>TAB>Services

Go to Autoruns>TAB>Drivers

It is also in the Windows Device Manager :)

thanks for your analytical answer!
i know that dpclat is an old programm but it happens that everytime i have an audio dropout, the dpclat show those big red columns...

Are you sure that the CMD file to check and fix the File System and Operational System Integrity you suggested works in win10?The next link you sent me says that those tweaks are for win11.

I ve already tuned my pc for audio,so all those settings regarding hibernate and power options etc are done.

I have to do the other settings you suggested though..(Enable MSI(Message Signaled-Based Interrupts) -Disable Core Isolation and Memory Integrity)

Install the newest mainboard bios if you haven’t, could potentially fix this.
iam waiting for the last bios release which will include this fix:

The support of asrock is great, they answered me in few hours and sent me a beta version of the bios which has the latest asega but iam not sure if i should install a beta version of bios.

I installed a beta bios with the same Agesa a while ago and zero problems, but it’s your decision of course. Could be that the non beta version could still take a while, who knows.

No, but I didn’t try a different bios with this CPU, I had to install a newer one to use it.

I never tested, but should work because it is simple command and I am most sure they are the same in Win10/Win11.

You only need the fTPM to install Windows 11, after it is installed you can turn-off.

sorry but i don't understand this ''You only need the fTPM to install Windows 11, after it is installed you can turn-off.''.

i have win10 installed and do not want to change them to win11

If you say sometimes these audio drops are followed by full system restarts, I would be inclined to think it's an unsteady power issue. Maybe your PSU is giving up the ghost?

You could try monitoring voltages system-wide, maybe that gives you a clue.

the psu was recently replaced. The audio dropouts probably are not related to the restarts. The restarts do not happen often but i always have audio dropouts.

Is there a way to run cpu and ram test at the same time >?should i run them seperately?
Which is the duration you suggest?

I used last year and do not remember right now, but I would make it run for 60 minutes and test the RAM/CPU.
i used it at the stock setting and i run cpu test. After about 1 minute i saw that error ''wheaerror detected''

at the same time the event viewer displayed this
-''
A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Unknown Error Source
Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
Processor APIC ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.''

The test didn't stop.
after about 26 minutes the system restarted but i didn't find any results oregarding the reason of restart in event viewer.
i got only this message ''The previous system shutdown at 8:47:10 PM on ‎7/‎5/‎2022 was unexpected.''

The following are some other errors i see in the event viewer ,which they always appear some minutes after every restart(even normal restarts...)
ithink that they are not related to my problem but i find it a good idea to post them here.I think that they are related to some sewrvices etc i have disabled in win10

The first thing to do is to clear the CMOS.
And show us a screenshot from ZenTimings.

You probably have a not properly configured RAM/CPU voltages/settings.
Give us(attach file) the Thaiphoon Burner report the way you see here.

ok,ill clear cmos today and try the beta bios which has the asega which fixes this problem:

could you please tell me if the following settings are important for my issue and the recommended settings?(my settings in the parenthesis)

-SRIOV support(disabled)
-iommu(disabled)
-power supply idle control(typical current idle)
-PSS support(disabled)
-SVM MODE(disabled)
-
i believe that those settings are not related cause i ve worked a big period with those settings but i d like your advise.

Problem is your PC is not stable, it must pass the tests without problems.
That is why I asked for a screenshot from ZenTimings and Thaiphoon report.

The free version is 100% capable.
Better get the results now, if your PC is corrupting data and if it corrupts the BIOS update?

Lets do a memory test, it is simple.
IF it fails, I would not update the BIOS, else If the motherboard has the BIOS flashback, means
able to update without CPU/RAM/GPU installed, then it is ok.
Get the http://www.numberworld.org/y-cruncher/
The test # 14 FFT - Fast Fourier Transform is for RAM test.
Press 1+enter>7+enter>0+enter and let it run the test #14 for 3 times.

You sure it has nothing to do with this?

---Faulting application name: Cubase10.5.exe, version: 10.5.30.365, time stamp: 0x602b282a Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll,

I had also blue screen crashes after installing non compatible ASIO drivers for my external DAC. Maybe check if there is a new version/driver available for your device or try if the error still occurs after removing the drivers of the "Cubebase", and if no luck remove the device too. Audio devices can be very bit**y sometimes.

Just press:
1 and enter
7 and enter
0 and enter
And it will only do the test #14

Your voltages are wrong!
The CLDO VDDP is insane high!!
CLDO VDDP should be 0.900

My recommendation:
VSOC = 1.1V
CLDO VDDP = 0.900
VDDG CCD/IOD = 1.05
DRAM Voltage = 1.37
ProcODT = 43.6

Make sure the RAM is the proper slots
