I have succeeded in fixing 1 key in my keyboard!

I was able to fix the letter "A" in my keyboard!

The rubber below the key that presses on the keyboard's circuitry was eaten by ants INSIDE of it. I was able to "partly repair" it by cutting out a part of a paper clip, shape it into a "V" thing and put its two ends on the socket of the key, and the "bottom" of the v shape pressing into the remnants of the rubber.

The only drawback is that you cannot press down on the letter A properly anymore (a mere touch is needed), and of course there are still ants inside the keyboard, and I really wonder why they're there. I'm "Kill on sight" on them though.

Weirdly though, it's the only key affected. For now...but it's almost 2 weeks since this happened.

Cool, although i would of used the rubber from another key like hey that hated windows key maybe .

And ya should really do some thing about those ants as ya don't want them in ya pants :|.

ROFL! I never thought of it, but I bet eating over your keyboard is exactly what causes ants to get in there.

I suddenly feel very anxious to get home and clean out my keyboard with some compressed air

it's a rubber dome keyboard. key cap with a plastic housing that is connected to a rubber nipple with graphite (trace) once you push down down it completes the connection.

It's only one key, not the whole board. I'm able to type properly even before, EXCEPT for the A. By the time they've eaten the whole thing I've most probably saved enough money for a new one.

if there were ants in my keyboard, I'd evacuate my building and call in the ant killers!!!!! and I'd bring my rig with me and clean it thoroughly...

btw, this isn't a joke... I'd really evacuate my building (house) and call the ant killers I already did the same when I saw 5 spiders... ON MY FWAKING SOFA

I've used something similar, some sort of "anti-insects" chalk. There are lines in some parts of the keyboard from the chalk, it works, sort of, but if the lines are not thick enough they'll just get dizzy. When they pass through thick ones they simply die.

I'm yet to use an expensive keyboard.

i thought my $120 Saitek eclipse II was expensive for a while... then i got a dinovo. I love it so much i hardly ever use it for fear or wearing it out or breaking it. i love it that much.

i wish it was like a $50 keyboard, i'd use it far more often then.

Quite "dangerous" over here in our house. There are ant hills on the empty lot behind our house, about 4m away or so, then a bee hive in a tree 7m away. Most of the ants are black (they don't bite), but some are red, like the ones in my keyboard right now, which I'm using.

oh yea... my cousin nearly died from bees... he was playing soccer and there was a beehive like a yard away... he kicked the ball and then ran for his life! Then there were like some guys in weird suits that sprayed chemicals all over to kill the bees He was at the hospital for soooooo long >.< Thank god he wasn't allergic
