i do not take any responsibility if any bad happens

I think only benefit you get is pre-overclocked core and memory clock if your Asus was clocked lower than the 260x. Is it 100% stable?

Why would you want this? I am not trying to be negative, I really want to know.

to get true audio and amd optimization do on the card to give along driver support life
my card was faster then a r7 260x

I thought true audio needed specific on gpu hardware? Does it work?

At least that's how I read it. Its a TrueAudio DSP and a DSP is described as "The Digital Sound Processor (DSP) is a dedicated bit of silicon." I thought it was some little chip they put on the PCB or something.

Yeah the 7790 is the same silicone and has the dsp built in to the silicone thats why the 270x doesn't support it

I've been wondering about this also when you look at cards like the R260X iPower IceQ and compare it to the 7790 iPower IceQ and others it looks to be the same exact card besides the name and some core markings so did you test trueaudio, I thought the core was slightly different:confused:

not at the minute I don't own any true audio games but I have no problem with it and I think video transcoding goes faster 40hr in about 8hr

I run Thief(latest Steam version) and no TrueAudio( . Driver AMD Catalyst 14.4 . But feeling VGA began to work better )

year because you get the hardware fixes bios level instead of driver level

I understand ) But I tried) . Graphics card is now working better ! (checked in BF4)

yeah good did thief have the mantle patch on it

Finally got thief and trueaudio worked so the 7790 got the dsp

It really works . (Was MSI 7790 1Gb OC to Gigabyte R7 260X )

yeah it works I was playing theif all last night with it why do companys keep disable things on products they sell you because your paying for that extra bit of silicon

the 260x is the same silicon as 7790 thats why you can crossfire them together

7790 is Bonaire (R7-260X is Bonaire ...) Bonaire is GCN 1.1 like Hawaii both have Trueaudio

The R series except for the R9 290 and 290x don't do true audio. The soon to be re-released R9 280 and 280x are going to have new GPU's that will support True Audio. It is a hardware enabled feature that can't be enabled with a simple bios flash.

R7 260/260X is trueaudio (so is the 7790)

basically a 7790 is a R7 260/260X so why wouldn't it works unless AMD did more than just a "rebrand"
since manufacturer mostly re used same card with a bios update for near all the R7/R9 series most of the time if there is a 7790 who use the same PCB as yours (same Manufacturer or other) you would mostly be able to flash it.

wait a sec ....
7790: Bonaire XT http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2100/radeon-hd-7790.html
R7 260X: Bonaire XTX http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2465/radeon-r7-260x.html
bah i pretty much doubt it would pose any problem ... unless they have added True Audio only in the XTX (possible?)

Ah so its on the R7 260/260x as well as the 290's. My bad.

Still I didn't think the older gen cards had the TrueAudio hardware.

Bonaire is not older gen card the 7790 is one of the 1st GCN1.1 which was followed by the 290/290X
tho it share the name with the 7XXX serie, i suspect AMD to not want to name it directly R7 260/260X and did like nVidia did with the 750/750Ti which are Maxwell but not 8XX naming (prepare for a 840/850/Ti rebrand version of it ... i guess xD )

Yeah. Answer right here.

Only Bonaire and newer GPUs – presumably anything that’s GCN 1.1 – will feature TrueAudio. That means the functionality is limited to 260X and 290X. 280X, 270X, and the rest will never have this feature, as the audio hardware is simply not present on those older GPUs.
