I need help with a new build/ tradeoff Corei7

This is my current Setup

CPU E6750 3.5Ghz -> Corei7 920
GPU 4870X2 -> GTX295 or GTX260+
PSU HX620W -> HX1000W
MEM 4gb Dominator 1066 -> 3gb Dominator 1600
Mob P5Q Deluxe -> EVGA X58SLI

I think i have a buyer for my PC, bare with me, its not USD, i think i can sell it for about 3900$

And buy the new build for about 4200$ for 260+ and 5000$ for 295.

I think i should do it, but i need help and opinions

Another option would be just to step up to an LGA775 Quad. Maybe a Q9650 ...

What do you use your rig for? Gaming? Photoshop and video editing?

1680x1050 would be kinda limiting for that GTX295. And GTX260 would be a step down from a 4870x2.

I use it for gaming, but i think the socket upgrade is very important, and since the 4870X2 is kinda paired to the 295, its already being limited. And i get very upset with high temps from my rig, when i'm surfing the web or doing something less demanding.
And the power supply upgrade would also be good. And being the GPU a step down, the other one are a step up, and since GT300 is on its way, the current GPU will have a limited life, so a medium end GPU, would get the job done until they arrive

I think an E8500 will help your rig the most, and its the most cost effective. Overclock that to about 4GHz and ur good to go

But granted the e8500 will provide no better clocks than e5200 would. Wouldn't be making much a step up IMO.

All I'm saying is this douglatins, if you don't mind switching over to a new board + i7 and got the funds to do it, then by all means. It's going to a worthwhile step. My suggestion just was going to prevent you from stepping up sooner.

I really think you should reevaluate your video card choice though with your monitor being limited to 1680x1050 tho.

So you believe the GTX260 is a better choice? And i'm doing this at this time because i think i have a chance of selling my current rig, so i would have to spend a marginal increase in money, like a 10% increase

Actually, if you didnt have to sell the 4870X2, I'd say stick with it.
