i7 Watercooling kit from Newegg - Possible ?

Hey all,

About a month or so ago I asked for some help with putting together my first WC setup. I got plenty of great recommendations (as always, thanks guys !). I am currently in the US until the end of the month, and I am going to order quite a big order from Newegg (Watercooling unrelated), and I was wondering if someone could help me out with putting together a complete (Minus the tubing, I'll get that locally back home) watercooling system for my i7 rig based on the stuff that exists on the Egg.

I started with (Based on the recommendations from my previous thread):
Swiftech Apogee GTZ Ci7 Extreme Duty CPU Water-block
Swiftech MCP655 12 VDC Pump

Please help me complete the rest !

To tell you the truth, there isn't anything via newegg I would recommend.

I would say to go and grab them from Petra, Sidewinder Computers, PPC, and so forth. They have better stuff, and you could save yourself some money that way..

This is my opinion at lease.

Well, thing is I am going to have a big order off the egg in any case. But if nothing can be achieved from there as you say, then could you recommend me a complete i7 kit from another source ?

(I am in Boston, btw)

you might want to try They are in New York and shipping should be good..

Now, is the CPU cooler you want [url=http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9160/ex-blc-620/Swiftech_Apogee_GTZ_i7_CPU_Waterblock_-_Socket_LGA_1366.html?tl=g30c323s835]this? If so, it's cheaper then Newegg... Pump wise, I see that newegg is cheap for the normal 655 pump. The only thing I'd say, is if you want to have a speed controller on your pump, then this is the cheapest

There isn't a difference between the M655 and the M655-B besides the fact that the "B" has the speed controller. it's a nice little thing to slow the loop.. But, then again, your on I7, so you want the flow to be at the top as long as possible..
 
Oh also another quick suggestion. Use 1/2" barbs and 7/16" tubing.

I am liking what I see in the second kit from Sidewinder, but:
1) I don't need the GPU block, since my HD4870X2 would need two anyway and it isn't planned to be in the loop in any case. The Accelero Extreme 4870X2 on it does a good job as it is.
2) Is the MCW30 chipset block going to fit an X58 ?

I highly doubt the MCW30 will work. Altho it may even work well. Someone else will have to comment on that. I just noticed it was a very well peiced together kit.

(Didn't even notice the mcw30 either :p)

I'll probably get this one. A few more questions:

1) One dual-rad will be enough for a seriously overclocked i7 975 (Say 1.4v running through it and however far it will get me Mhz wise), my earlier thread indicated three or four (That is counting individual rads, not duals) might be a better bet - If so, can I add another dual rad into this system as it is ? If so, which one should I get ?
2) The tubing does not come not, yes ? That is, I'll be able to put it together in whatever shape I feel like ?

1.) I will see if i can peice together a kit that has a triple rad.

2.) You can always pickup more tubing once you get back home to the UK.

Compression fittings aren't worth it, IMO.

Pick a color of coolant:

Or you can always use plain distilled water if you wish to go inexpensive. DO NOT GO WITH USING A DYE BOMB FOR COLOR.

Unfortunately you will have to look elsewhere for the radiator. Due to being out of stock on SW's.

Pardon the really idiotic question: How many barbs would I need ? 2 for the Rad ?
 
2 for rad, 2 for res (unless you dont mind using plastic ones), 2 for waterblock. Get 8 total so you will have 2 extra just in case.

Okay, thanks a lot. I am going to order this setup on over the weekend. My dad has four aquariums, so distilled water is easy for me to get - We got a reverse-osmosis filter going in the basement.

Thanks, but I got the fans covered already - I have a bunch (6) of Scythe Slipstreams and S-Flexes lying around.

I actually compared the stuff you listed to the watercooling kit you linked to earlier - It does look like that kit is a better buy, price-wise (Plus - I'll just sell off the MCW60 and MCW30 back home). If I were to get another dual rad (The Nzxt Tempest can mount a dual rad under the dual top 140mm fans) and the barbs for it, I should be able to put it in the loop as well, right ? Or will that be too much for the pump to deal with ?
 
Pump would be more than fine.
 
Don't get the Swiftech block, It realy sucks comapred to other blocks. Use This or this for your CPU block. Your cooling an i7 so your goning to need alot of rad. Get this if you are using high RPM fans or this for low RPM fans. For a pump, I like the Swiftech MCP355's with an aftermarket top such as this. Or you could get this or this if you wanted to combine your res and your top. These are the best barbs on the market IMO. For coolant use distilled water with some PT Nuke. Finally for tubing use 7/16's in. I know this kit cost a little more than the others but I can tell you from experience a double rad won't cool an i7.
