If you had just one game to play for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hi,
Since the op doesn't include his choice I have to guess we have the same game in mind

It's called The game of life to most it's just living their lives day to day can be inclusive to and full of love/ drama/ anger/...
Can be boring but usually is unpredictable with wife/ kids/ both sides of the family holidays/ birthdays/... not to mention friends we like and don't like

Sounds like an interesting game, does it have a trial version? I'd like to try it out before committing :D

I'll put it on my wishlist and wait for a Steam seasonal sale!

Payday 2. All hail lord RNGesus! Also pretty much an infinite ways to play through skill sets and they keep adding more heists.

Minecraft if mods are allowed. It's a thousand games in one.

Rocket League if no MC mods.

Hitman 3 definitely. Before that it was GTA V.:D
I have the most played hours into Hitman series out of any game I own. The idea of playing only 1 game sounds awful really lol but if I HAD to pick one, probably Hitman 3 also.

Galactic Civilization II with all expansions. I put a lot of hours into that game and I still find myself going back to it over and over again.

Great....now I want to play it....I'll have to dig out my physical copies now. I hate you.

I think I would get burned out on just one game but I guess the game Alpha Centauri from 1999 would be my choice if I had to make such a choice as one game for the rest of my life.
Thanks for reminding me of this little gem. I forgot about it and it's on sale on GOG, bought it for only 1.8 USD. Never got to play it when it came out, but i saw it in magazines of that era.

I didn't want to steer the answers anywhere, that's why I kept mum. I don't know what that game would be for me, I've spent over 500 hours playing various versions of HoMM and over 2.5K hours playing CSG0 but that's a multiplayer game which kinda sorta doesn't fit the description because I implied a game which would work forever and this game solely depends on whether Valve servers are up and running, the Internet as well and people are still playing it - too many conditions. In the past it could find LAN servers without logging into your Steam account but nowadays it doesn't work.

In that case I guess my answer with Skyrim still stands since some modding community should stay alive unless the whole inet goes down.

If we are talking about pure offline gaming only then probably I would go with Grim Dawn.
Thats a game I could sink a lot of hours into even offline with the original relase.

It's amazing what you can do with Alpha Centauri. It's got a map editor, scenario editor, tech editor, custom rules editor, unit editor, faction diplomacy editor and even a file where you can change what the factions say to you depending on their view of you. You also get the expansion Alien Crossfire which gives you even more to do.

I have put thousands of hours into the game over the years because I could change the game in so many ways.

Age of Empires 2 DE

That's really tough to pick, but I think I would go with Victoria II. It has tons of content and can be as hard or as easy as you wish. It's easy to mod and existing mods are almost like entirely new games too. Out of 3D games I may pick GTA San Andreas, but it may as well be UT 2004.

Check out Bitlife

I'm gonna say Unreal World because I've always wanted to try it properly.
You can't mention Unreal without this:

Oh, it's not that Unreal. Boooo!

Considering I've played and still play Skyrim since it's release 10 years ago, on multiple platforms, I'd likely pick Skyrim.

Realistically, I'd just stop playing games. The older I get the less time I spend gaming. Having only one options would certainly be enough reason to simply spend my time doing something more productive lol.

Put me in a straight jacket, cuz trying to choose will drive me bat-shyt crazy. :D

Either TESV Skyrim or FO4 and a fuckton of mods

Once Immortal Empires launches my TWWH experience will only be from TWWH3 so yes right now it is not technically correct but give it 2 months and all I am saying is true. 500+ settlements is huge. This will basically be Total War Empire in the Warhammer Fantasy Universe.

Oh yeah, once they've ironed out the first wave of bugs for that mode, I'm all in. Right now, I haven't even bought 3 yet :D

But to be honest I would be willing to get that as my only game to sit out the rest of life. Its not the most pleasant outlook, but there is certainly enough to do :)

I was going to mention No Man's Sky earlier but I think one would rather easily commit suicide that way. Its desolation in optimal form - there are NPC's, but they're actually cardboard printing a few lines of dialogue - the SAME dialogue everywhere you go. How creepy is that. The most alive thing in that universe is a bloody sandworm, not the best company either.

You can't mention Unreal without this:
I could get into a life of instagibbing too, in fact. Or any of the other mutators... Heck I'd do it for the music alone.

It is fan-tas-tic. You think Civ 6 has a good climate change system going on? Think again. Combat is also better than most Civs, imho, a lot more dynamic as you can custom-build ANY military unit. This game introduced a cocktail of customization within even the base game that is unparalleled I think to this day. Also in execution. Most stuff just works. It boggles the mind why this hasn't gotten a remaster. Endless Legend, approaches it a little bit, but in AC the end game is super exciting, while EL becomes a job.

I literally have the attention span of a fruit fly. I would have to hit the random button because I own a lot of games but I just cant sit through them. Its my dirty secret. I like games, but only for short periods of time.

Wish granted.

What, you say your computer won't boot? You want an OS? Tough cookies, you chose steam.exe. Enjoy.

I give up. Chess?
