I'm sick of SLI issues - gonna get rid of it

Are you sick of SLI / CrossFire issues?

No it shouldn't, as I'm talking about my setup specifically.

Ooh ok. That bad huh.

Makes enough sense. Don't underestimate the ability of people to get butthurt though.

Butt hurt LMAO, only people i see getting more butt hurt is those with CF\SLI.

My friend with 780 SLI on 10 has not been happy and wants to ditch, and was having issues even before that with the last few driver releases. I ditched SLI because it's a pain in the ass. Waiting for profiles, waiting for bug fixes, having to disable it every time I do a driver update or anytime I shut the pc off to work on it because it's so damn sensitive to cards being removed and put back in. Random games with features that don't work on SLI. It's been death by a thousand cuts for my interest in dual gpu setups.

Running dual 460s for years, never had problems other than games not supporting SLI. Been flawless for me.

That's how it feels for me. To be honest, I only get around to playing a small fraction of the games I actually own so I don't see that many problem. Still, I'm sure I'd see a lot more issues if I started playing them.

Thing is, when it works properly, it's fantastic. Gives a lovely boost CoD: Advanced Warfare for example and no glitches either.

I hate you. :p

Ive run 680s and 970s and while i have experienced the odd hiccup here and there, Its nothing compared to my overall experience with AMD that spanned 3 generations. In AMDs defence the 4870s and 5850s that i had in crossfire did seem to work exceedingly well. Its only when I switched to 6970s that AMD seemed to have dropped the ball in terms of their QC when it came to drivers. things just went downhill from there.

I may ditch my 970s in favor of a single Pascal card next year

dx10 was like gliding through calm waters. dx11 must be like flying thru a 100mph windstorm
1394 ftw or was it 1366. sli members...?

Sorry to hear you're having problems with SLI, going for a single card is always gonna be less problematic than using multiple cards, at least until DX12 games are released that support rendering on multiple asymmetric GPUs, I can see those future games as the killer apps that will push more people to use multiple cards in the future, but for the time being, it appears like it causes more headaches than it's worth it. In my case, I've been fortunate enough to have many rigs using dual GPUs, without any major issues, but it seems like I'm an outlier, as you can read many horror stories from people who have issues with SLI/CxFire.

I'm pretty sure you won't regret going for a single 980Ti, good luck! :toast:

Thanks man. :toast:

I've had a chance to play GTA V now that I could get some quiet time away from Real Life, lol. I'm glad to say that the SLI performance boost is actually working for this game after all, even if the benchmark mode is still broken - I'll update my OP now. Note that the speedup isn't huge, as I suspect the CPU is bottlenecking. I can get 90-190 fps with SLI on now.

Still, there are enough little niggles to make me want to go single card again. I don't regret having tried it though, because as an enthusiast, it's interesting to play around with it.

With a bit of luck, Pascal, together with DX12 will allow two GPUs to work as one, creating a double sized virtual GPU with double the memory that will hopefully make these problems a thing of the past.

Had 470s in SLI, and now 780s in SLI. Only thing that sucks currently is W10 and BF4. No SLI there for me. So I just haven't been playing BF4.

When Pascal launches, I'll be getting rid of the 780s. Until then I'll just soldier on.
