you a bot or some sort of person who is sharing this shortage problem if so share it in the news forum this is a graphics card area not a place for people to talk about "sand" shortages.

shortages happen when supply does not meet demand.. demand is greatly influenced by price.. the higher the price the less the demand..

there is nothing complicated going on here just a bunch of people who dont have a clue as regards how things work..

at ebay prices there is no shortage.. anyone can buy a 30xxx card today and have it delivered the next day... so what gpu shortages are we talking about.. i dont see any..

The prices being relatively lower than expected at launch for the 3070 and 3080 plus low supply is the reason we have scalper problems right now.

those of you who marked forever shortage in the poll, this isn't the case at all, once the new factories across the world open, I believe there are a few, TSMC has some in Arizona on schedule for 2023/2024, etc... once those start pumping out chips, I think we will be looking at a over supply and price decrease. Probably in 2023/2024.

I do find it troubling there are only 3 major companies pumping out chips everyone relies on though, TSMC being number 1, Samsung second and Intel third... well I guess Apple makes its own chips now??? but I can't remember if they use TSMC or not for the actual production of it.

Yes I see the connection its both shortages but please try to move this comment to the news section this is a gpu section not a sand section. just copy and paste this comment to the News forum.

its been two days since poll launched on the lead we have a lot people voting for the early 2022 or mid of 2022 when gpu shortages end. On the second lead we have tied with it will last forever and late or ending of 2022. On third we have 2024 while this is the votes nothing will stay the same we'll be back in later with you in 2 days. OHHH RESULTS JUST CHANGED FOREVER HAS BEATEN late 2022 or ending by 1.

Thankfully all I really play right now is Valorant. I want to upgrade CPUs too, but I don't if I want to invest in another DDR4 platform. Or if I do go with 5900x and hold onto that until DDR5 is matured in 2-3 years.

for a price to be real their has to be an available product to be bought at that price.. if there isnt the price isnt real its fake..

give it a few days and 3080ti cards will be available on ebay.. all those who walked away empty handed from the big stores will be able to buy one.. there is no shortage just fake prices with no product behind them..

ebay is the only true price discovery mechanism we have.. ebay has products to buy at the real price.. everything else is pie in the sky bullsh-t...

the fact people dont like the real price arrived at in a free market way is an entirely separate issue..

there is no shortage just fake unrealistic prices that people cling to for no valid reason..

This isn't true. Some gamers are actually buying RTX A4000, A5000, and even A6000 to game on because they can't buy the gaming cards. If & when the gaming cards do become available at more reasonable prices, I suspect a number of these professional cards are going to be resold at cheaper prices.

I don't really see how anyone can answer this question without it being properly specified what exactly an *end* to the shortage would entail... Would it end if AIB 3080s settle at $900-1000 rather than $700 just like the 2080Ti was $1200 or so rather than $1000?

I think it is already normalising substantially, mining demand is softening and more and more used GPUs are starting to go for far more reasonable prices than a month ago. I could see within 50% of MSRP being the norm by September or so, but beyond that it just becomes increasingly hard to predict what will influence the prices. And even that september figure comes with a lot of asterisks...
