Intel Core i5-13600K Ups the E-Core Count to 8, Tested in CPU-Z Bench

Intel's 13th Gen Core i5 "Raptor Lake" desktop processor lineup could see the top Core i5-13600K and i5-13600KF feature a 6P+8E core-configuration (that's six performance cores and eight efficiency cores). Each of the six P-cores has HyperThreading enabled, making this a 14-core/20-thread processor. Each of the six "Raptor Cove" P-cores has 2 MB of dedicated L2 cache. The eight "Gracemont" E-cores are spread across two E-core clusters with four cores, each. Each cluster shares 4 MB of L2 cache among the four E-cores (increased from 2 MB per cluster on "Alder Lake"). The P-cores and E-cores share 24 MB of L3 cache, increased from 20 MB on the i5-12600K.

A qualification sample (QS) of the Core i5-13600K made its way to social media, where it was put through a bunch of synthetic tests. In CPU-Z Bench, the i5-13600K QS scores 830 points in single-thread, compared to 648 points of the Ryzen 9 5950X "Zen 3," and trails it in the multi-threaded tests, with 10031.8 points, compared to 11906 points for the Ryzen. The QS comes with a Processor Base Power (PBP) value of 125 W, same as that of the i5-12600K. "Raptor Lake" is backwards compatible with Intel 600-series chipset motherboards, although it launches alongside the Intel 700-series chipset. It shares the LGA1700 socket with 12th Gen "Alder Lake," and is built on the same Intel 7 node (10 nm Enhanced SuperFin) as its predecessor.

I believe this should essentially inherit a similar MT performance of an existing Core i7 12700 part. This by itself is a pretty sweet deal for an i5 part.

Indeed it is, for a budget CPU with that ST performance and not too shabby MT it will be pretty good.
 
The ST score destroys the 5950x not bad for a much cheaper CPU.

It is hard to imagine it not being faster than an almost 2 years old CPU.
If it is good or not time will tell. I'd wait with fanfares till I see the entire picture. What's good is you can use the older board to support it. Intel did draw some conclusions and that is good.

well i was about to write my usual "ahhhh, how refreshing, XXXX new gen CPU beat XXX older gen CPU, who knews?"

also more hybrid nonsense ... can't they keep that for tablets, smartphones and ultra portables ... (6C/12T would still be enough ) furthermore if their CPU have high consumption ... for the segment they are in (and they usually draw way more than what mentioned iirc )

@birdie MT? mmhhh 10ish k is indeed faster than 12ish k, yup yup ... but yep right on the 20T vs 32T (let's wait real life performances tho ... i suspect the hybrid will not be playing nice :laugh: )

It's expected that with less threads newer CPUs should be faster in MT and ST.

I'm looking forward to when AMD get there ass in gear and show us what is what. But despite my preference, the Intel looks strong!

5600X beating the 3800XT?

There are some AlderLake CPU that could maybe added to that list as well like 12600 non K.
5000 series is ZEN 3 by the way since you stated outside ZEN 1.

The 5600x was launched in 2020,yet it was slower than the 3700x that was launched in 2019 for a similar price. So if intel followed amds tactics, yes the 13600k should be slower in mt performance compared to the 12600k

There are some AlderLake CPU that could maybe added to that list as well like 12600 non K.
5000 series is ZEN 3 by the way since you stated outside ZEN 1.
The 5600x is slower than the 3700x, and naturally slower than the 5800x as well.

A 5600x does not beat a 3800xt and a 5800x doesn't beat a 10900k either. Unless of course you're talking about workloads that don't scale well with cores but that's silly in the context of the conversation.

You're great at lying. In reality 3800XT and 10900K are both a whole lot faster in MT tests:

I was talking about MT performance. Intel Core i5-13600K is faster than a prev-gen i7 part. ST performance was never the topic of this conversation.

So in that chart you posted is the 5800X not ahead and faster than 10900K in MT and ST?
