Intel Readies Four 6-core "Coffee Lake" SKUs, Including Two Core i5

For everyone interested, threadripper supports 3600mhz quadchannel 32GB RAM with an aorus gaming 7! Turns out that mobo also has wifi+BT4.2, btw.

Coffeelake is lucking like a clusterf***. Z370 up to 6 cores, but not z270, so you need a new mobo anyway for the 6-cores AND new 300 series mobos that do NOT support old cpu's! That's going to confuse many people.

Gigabyte announced 3600mhz ram compatibility with Ryzen. That doesn't mean it works.

They have multiple 3600mhz qvl kits for the x370 boards. Again doesnt mean they operate at 3600
But this time there were no separate tested frequencies. Gigabyte's never sloppy when it comes to QVL's from what I've seen either.

I am just saying wait for the cart to arrive before buying your horse. Gigabyte prerelease information has been garbage marketing ploys for years. They don't even have an external clock generator on their middle end board.

Whatever. I'm waiting 'till late september anyway because I'm a bit busy doing other stuff right now anyway, so I'll know in time if that QVL RAM list isn't what it seems to be, but I'm 99% certain that list is for all the RAM sets that have working XMP profiles on the gaming 7.

For ryzen? LOL ok

So 6 is the new 4?
Why not 8?? Is intel going for another 10 years with 6 Cores only?

Yeah lol I agree. They should have made i7's 8-cores and i5's 6-cores.

However, I think the reason is obvious - their arch is too inefficient to fit 8 cores into a 95w package. The 7700K uses nearly the same energy as the 1800X, and Coffee Lake is just another 14nm rebrand of Broadwell.
