Intel to Begin Core "Haswell" Production in Q4

Were is Intel moving forward they are going to be releasing another monolithic die based off of Pentium 3.

Tell me, Is it lonely up there all by your self?

Let's wait to see how these 4th gen CPU's will perform. :peace:

Not much fun being trolled in Intel threads is it?

So......basicly intels pen 3 is moping the floor with everything a certain company has put out in recent history..... Man intel....give us something more upto date already....we need to break the space time barrier like,yesterday....;)

That worked so well last time. I think they called it Pentium 4.

LOL. you so funny.

I try

YEAH!!! :rockout::toast:

Intel rolls forward widening the gap even farther than expected!

my thoughts

:rockout: this

Haswell is indeed impressive and all, but here's the way I see it, putting a couple quotes together from other sites.

"Steamroller's raw performance may match Sandy Bridge, but it's unlikely to compete well against IVB or Haswell." - hothardware.com

and I'm sure this is true, as far as synthetic benchmarks an other things are concerned but if you put that statement together with this quote from Tom's hardware's monthly "Best Gaming CPU for the Money" bit, you get a better picture of why I haven't given up on AMD.

"Our tests demonstrate fairly little difference between a $225 LGA 1155 Core i5-2500K and a $1000 LGA 2011 Core i7-3960X, even when three-way graphics card configurations are involved." -tomshardware.com

When it comes to gaming, which in the end is what most PC enthusiasts are concerned with, a CPU beyond Sandybridge level performance offers little gains in gaming, if (and I believe it will) Steamroller can match Sandybridge, it will be at least a decent alternative as long as AMD prices it right. Just think about it this way Intel fanboys, if haswell does end up with no competition, imagine what Intel will charge for these suckers. Just sayin ;)

LOL I love it when AMD fanboys say things like this. Intel has no worries and to say that they will price them so high as to make people NOT buy them is just plain dumb! That would not benefit Intel at all. So they will continue to sell them at a price that the people can afford. :banghead:
And since there are just a remake of the P3 (as cdawall says) They are even more attractive, Just think Intel's OLD tech is KILLING AMD!

God I hope they hurry... I'm poor and only run top end of each gen... have to buy mainly used or sell-off-stock. I really want sb-e!

Steam roller can match the late sandy?.......i thought steam was still on the 1156 level.

Do you remember how much Intel used to charge for its CPUs before AMD started to really compete? The whole reason CPUs in general are as affordable as they are today is competition. Why would you not want AMD to compete? Sure people will still buy Intel's CPUs no matter what price, but in the end would you rather pay $300-$400 for a mid range Intel CPU or are you enjoying the $200~ pricetag they have today? In business if you offer an exclusive product or a product with an exclusive level of performance, you charge as much as you can get away with, why do you think the i7-3960X costs $1000+? The further Intel pulls away from AMD, the further the price difference will grow, its simple economics.

You are being silly right now...Oh-oh-oh wait I forgot AMD sucks and Intel is GOD.

:wtf: really . ..

No the problem is some people cling to irrational hope that under a specific set of circumstances AMD might actually come close to competing with intel, if only for a few seconds.

But who cares, if having slower hardware makes you happy then go for it, some people enjoy having more power than they need.

AMD sucks and Intel is GOD.

Well Yeah! :rockout:

Look Intel is doing great, Face it AMD just can not compete at there level. I wish they could HELL yes! I loved AMD back in the day, But it seems them days are over and Intel is focused on moving forward and providing it's customers with the best they can make. If that makes Intel the bad guy then cool.

Don't be a hatter because you could have had a Q9650 that is better than your B97.

Actually to be very specific despite some very well documented cases of intel completely removing the ability of AMD processors to utilize AVX even when they support it. AMD processors do quite well in truly multithreaded app's that utilize the coding and core hierarchy in the processor design. This is why we are seeing them exceed in data servers, video encoding (utilizing proper AVX) and certain games even.

What makes intel the bad guy is bullshit tactics that they have already been on trail for that they continue to do. When one of the codes in most software is "is processor GenuineIntel" and that boosts the performance by upwards of 15% I call crap. Bully tactics suck and I hate seeing companies get there asses handed to them by unfair business practices such as the WIntel monopoly.

If you honestly think Haswell is a major step forward I feel bad for you. It is no more of a step forward than SB to IB. There are no major updates it is merely a die shrink and a refinement of the "core" architecture.

Also want to point out AMD does not compete with Intel's highend. They are competing in the mainstream market according to every single piece of PR and processor they have released.

No better chip out there for $65 brand spanking new from AMD. Tossed the entire rig together for $200. Cool thing is unlike a Q9650 if I want a 6 core tomorrow all I have to do is order one. Hell the mobo sitting in my closet supports bulldozer and is slated to support piledriver. Do that with your so much better Q9650.

LOL. Not from me.

AMD fanboys can't handle the truth.

Sure it isn't TPU's resident inteliot seems to like riding his high horse into every single AMD or Intel argument to state that Intel is the current top dog and leads the world in everything? Do you really and honestly think that AMD owners do not know that for a lot of applications Intel is currently in the lead? No one on here is stupid, but from your high horse you cannot see that? Maybe you don't realize the only reason anyone responds to you is because you seem to get the biggest rise out of it. It is almost like you seem to think because you own some dead ass Intel socket you can push your chest out and say Intel is better. Maybe you haven't read my spec's yet. I OWN an I7 with HT that not only eats your little fucking old ass Intel chips lunch in every benchmark known to man at a much lower TDP and clockspeed, but also beats my own B97 at any clockspeed. I use AMD chips because I enjoy overclocking them. Plain and simple.

I have that. It sits in my HTPC 4.2ghz of Intel performance. More power than I can use. My AMD is a toy. I could care less if it breaks.

I actually agree with trickson on this one

This whole amd/intel thing is nothing more than a dallas vs washington lakers vs piston etc etc 99% poke the other team...just having fun. it should only be taken seriously when jobs are being lost.....in those cases nobody wins....and everyone has a right to be ticked off at bonehead business practices

+1: I've owned a Celeron, P4 2.67 & 630, C2D E6600, and my i7 3820 made by Intel. I've also owned an Athlon 64 3700+ and a phenom ii 940, so I've been predominantly an Intel guy, however, the Athlon 64 3700+ (San Diego) was one of the best single core machines I've used and the 940 is one of the fastest DDR2 machines I've ever used, all while not breaking the bank. When I have money to blow (or want to blow,) I will go with whatever is better, otherwise price is the deciding factor.

With all of that said, I loved using the 940. The 3820 is by far better, but then again I would hope so. :banghead:

DUDE your are a troll and you need to chill out. You seem to think that if any one says anything at all about your precious AMD that the world is coming to an END. I could give a ... what you do or what you have. REALLY DUDE it is enough already.
I happen to like Intel and AMD but If I show one hint of liking one MORE than another you get nuts! You know what I do not care any more. I LOVE MY CPU YOU LOVE YOURS! Cool but I think Intel is moving forward AND you think it is a bad thing? Or are just so ....... as to think a die shrink and change in architecture is nothing more than a lateral move? This is a NEW CPU and looks to be great, AMD is not the ISSUE here, Remember YOU brought up AMD NOT ME! I have also been looking at my OLD ASS CPU and from what I can see AMD still hasn't done enough to even compete with Intel's OLD end! Let alone there top end. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/146?vs=49 I have looked at ALL the comparisons and even AMD'S NEW line seems like a lateral move to the Q9650 at stock speed. It still takes 6 cores just to beat it in SOME BM. Now this is one reason why I have not felt the need to upgrade to the core i7. Now kindly stop thinking you know every thing please. You are making yourself look......
BTW I have owned many many AMD CHIPS In the past in fact this is the second Intel chip I have owned in 6 years and have had more than 12 AMD Chips and my first SYSTEM EVER was a AMD 486DX2!
Before any mod gets all pissed at me please think of this I did not start this in any way and I have been flame-bated. I needed to say this and much more.

Gentlemen, I think we need to calm down a little bit.
