Hey guys I'm in the market for a card reader. I've been looking around but thought why not ask every one what they thought. I can use either 3.5 or 5.25 as long as the 3.5 has a adapter plate. A sata connection would be preferred. Thanks to any one that posts a link or throws there 2 cents in..:toast:

I use an Akasa ICR-07
I specifically got this because I had problems finding a card reader that would take the card from my HD camera. This was because the card readers I had supported SD but didn't support SDHC.
It was the cheapest SDHC supporting card reader I could find, it cost me £7 GBP. It comes with black and biege interchangable fascias. No SATA connection though.

Card readers are typically USB. Don't worry, that's fast enough and will not bottleneck the speed of the SD card which is the limiting factor. And Compact Flash follows the IDE not SATA protocol.

i like the Akasa Internal Smart 8 Port Card Reader (AK-ICR-05) £14.99 or about 24.26US$
it looks like it can take nearly everything, has had a few bad reviews because of the bright blue led and the fact the compact flash card reader is very close to the front bezel, but other than that it looks sound,

i will be ordering one soon (when i've got enough things put in the basket ) saddly it hasn't got sata just usb2

why the sata connection? are you planning on using a cf card as an ssd?

Usb is fine I just dont wanna use up all my usb ports I have more sata ports thats all. Keep em coming guys thanks to those who have already.

Like others have stated above, or if you wanna go the cheap way, there are internal card readers that are really cheap, try googling a bit or search em on the bay, you might be surprised. Obviously, you might be put off concerning quality but its just a reader, nothing special like an SSD or whatever! ;) I put several of em in customers build (5.25, simple black ones but they work) haven't had a problem thus far. (here's touching wood)

Card readers are not created equal.Cheap ones have driver issues reading issues the list goes on and on and on. Thats why I asked for some info here. I dont want the best of the best but I'm willing for fork over some cash. Was hoping to get reviews of ones that people own and have tested and passed. Thanks.

Still hoping to hear from some happy owners.
