Internet. What's the point?

I have 2Ghz of power sitting idle at home.

1.2Ghz Celeron
AMD 550
Twin Pro 200Mhz SCSI server
RAGE Pro 233

Besides my machine.

A friend is getting the 1.2 with 512MB of RAM and XP Home, keyboard, mouse and monitor for very cheap. My wife can use my machine and or the 550, 233 or soon a 1.7Ghz celery system with a X800GTO tweaked.

Computers are cheap, but the problem is most people at first think they are fast, then they or their kids load it down with Kazza crap, my space, itunes, and a bunch of shit, then it is slow and they get pissed, and they are just a breeding ground for viral infections, and spam bots.

So in the long run, if they have a bad experience, then they have to pay, they get unreasonably pissed and blame everything but themselves. You can see the same people sitting by the side of the road with a broke down POS wondering why them, you just put gas in it right? Or living in a trailer with roaches and imbread kids wondering why they never have anything.

So if there are 33% of the US that are too stupid to own a PC, there must be a reason why. I should know, most of my relatives are this way. Dumb hicks.

my 2 cents is, that with my college education, i think the time spent browsing the web looking at shit, and reading articles, science journals, computer information, my forum browsing habits, has given me almost as much useful information as my 240k collage career that i'm still paying for. the internet is literally the best thing since the wheel, and those who say they "don't need it, or don't want it" are complete waste's of space and drag the intelligence level of the us down, it's already a known fact that the us is one of the most undereducated 1st world countries in the world. why is that, i know cause people who have the audacity to say the internet is not worth it are worthless pieces of shit. that's why

i have to agree with you. just by looking up random stuff on the net, im that much ahead of the rest of my class. I can't put a value on the internet, sure, we pay $15 bucks a month for dsl, but still, to me it's priceless. With the internet, i can work harder, but that's when i try, if i wasn't just randomly surfing the web, i'd be playing some games, or watching tv. and just to reinforce my idea that the internet is priceless, i had a take home test last week, half the things weren't even in the textbook, how would i have done the test without wikipedia? it was necassary.

Internet is extremely useful, it can be considered a lifeline if you have a problem, potentually saving you a crapload. With sites like wikipedia as well, it can also be considered a valuable tool for learning, imo ppl shouldnt state they dont need \ isnt a good resource without having spent enough time using it to genuinely say its of no use to them.
